Now we're talking.

Great news, now Chicago has two supertalls in the pipeline.

Too the supertall section! Calling this beast a skyscraper is totally wrong.

The new rendering shows the building at 1000+ in comparison to the other towers and the old.

This is what you missed... The previous height of the center (southern) tower was 950'. It's visually taller to the roof now and with the addition of the spire, it'll almost certainly be a supertall now.

Then & Now...

If you go strictly by the rendering there is also about 8 more floors on the new one. Good chance this is over 1000' but I'll wait till an official announcement before I believe it.

Is the supertall tower U/C or is it the lower tower of the project that is U/C?

Ok. in that case, it's best to leave it here for now until one of the supertalls is U/C. Otherwise it would end up in the proposed supertalls section as there is no supertall U/C, just a skyscraper. Another option is creating a separate thread for the supertalls.

Call me crazy but I liked the original design better. Even with the shorter height.

I did a quick Photoshop for comparison between old and new. In doing so I took a look at the top of the new version and noticed that it looks an awful lot like someone did a quick (and kinda sloppy) Photoshop version. Look at the repetition of the floor sections and how it's off center where the gray background begins.

I like that the design is now less obviously Pelli. His supertalls and tall skyscrapers are becoming too generic across the globe.

Really? Glass setback buildings are his other big 'thing'.
