There are a few more proposals that can be added...

So there are a few more office buildings that I wasn't aware of until I saw them listed on Curbed.com. They are also listed (with better renderings) on SSP page 390 of the Highrise Projects and Construction thread. Not sure if its kosher to directly link the other forum, but I'm sure you can manage. The ones that seem new are:

108 N. Jefferson St

301 S. Wacker Drive

401 S. Wacker Drive

601 W. Monroe St.

108 N. Jefferson St

222 W. Randolph

And also one of my favorite proposals:

http://chicago.curbed.com/archives/2...n-the-area.php

The link to spyguy's post has a better rendering.

I am really interested in these ones, because they will start filling in the empty area in front of the Sears.

Not that I've read about. I've only seen them linked to a couple of article's with almost no significant description. Anymore, I presume that only a minority of these projects will ever be realized. But the Riverpoint news of late shows that we can all still be surprised, so I think it's a lot of fun to hold out hope, and have a healthy dose of optimism.

True, We have 435 N Park, and River Point which are both basically 200m buildings, and are about to break ground. We also have Wolf Point, which tower 1 could be a supertall, and the second tower is still 230m. Not to mention that there are several 200m proposals, and tons of U/C and proposals in the 100-200m range. I have also heard that Trump is watching the Spire site, and may want to build America's tallest, or a very tall building. There was an article late last year where Trump said he was looking to build more in Chicago, and was already looking at some spots. Things are picking up at a fast rate. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear something about a 400m+ building in the next 2 years

haha, I would say it's a somewhat realistic outcome, though the part about a 400m building, is just a feeling I have.

Well...... I wouldn't count on Wolf point being a supertall. It's possible, but everything we've heard thus far has said 900 ft, so that's what I expect till I hear otherwise. I'd be damn happy with that height, provided the design is great. Especially considering it's supposed to be 3 towers of substantial height. That should add some respectable density to the area.

As far as Trump developing the Spire site..... that's another situation that I don't take too seriously. Don't get me wrong, I love Trump Tower, and know that it's arguably one of the best highrise condo buildings to live in downtown Chicago. But The Donald is also kind of a blowhard. I remember hearing somewhere that he still hasn't made a profit on TTC, but I could be wrong. Nevertheless, I do still think the spire site should yield a great development in the next 5-10 years. It's a spectacular site, that would have superb river, city, and lake views, and begs for an incredible architectural masterpiece.

I dunno..... anymore I get less freaky about only height, and care more about architecture and density. Chicago already has one of the best skylines in the world. Adding a few more really tall buildings is icing on the cake. But I'd love a little more population density in a few areas of downtown. And I think we're on a great path right now.

Phwew..... long post..... sorry that's after a few glasses of 18 year old scotch....

Wow!! Love the Old Post Office proposal!!! Awesome!! That really tall tower looks to make a challenge for "new tallest".

No one thinks it's a serious proposal. The developer is full of hot air.

He did just release a new video for it, with more realistic plans, but you might be right, I don't know much about the developer.

Man! I wish they would build it. The entire plan looks awesome, inside and out! A lot sure has changed since I lived there. For the better, tho. I always loved my time there.

They may have made the video just to showcase their design abilities. Architects looking for work or trying to gain extra work will release renderings for buildings that have no intention of being built, just to showcase their abilities. Would be nice though.

Wolf Point

Source

Quote:
Touting what would be downtown Chicago’s largest new real estate development since the 2008 financial crisis, representatives of the Kennedy family and three financial partners on Tuesday provided the first glimpse of a proposed three-tower office and apartment complex on a historic but long-underutilized site along the Chicago River.

The project, whose cost is pegged at more than $1 billion, calls for a slope-roofed office building of 925 feet, which would be Chicago’s eighth-tallest structure. Another office building and an apartment high-rise would bring the project’s combined square footage to nearly 3 million square feet, more than the biggest skyscraper of the boom years, the 2.6-million-square foot Trump International Hotel & Tower.
