Belo Horizonte, Brazil - Huge landscape straight from my window

Hi all, this is the view I got straight from my window in the tenth ninth floor of a building situated in a high place.

You can see the south mountains (last photos) and even the Mineirão Stadium (photo 2), the second larger in Brazil, where some games will take place in World Cup 14.

I think it covers great part of the Belo Horizonte's urban area, the third in size and population in Brazil (about 5 million people). I had to dramatically reduce the landscapes photo size due to forum limitations, so a small part of this will actually show a enormous area. Only in full size you can get a ideia of how big (spread) this city is.

I hope you enjoy.

13. Buritis. This neighborhood was considerated the fastest growing region in the latin america some years ago.

14. Pampulha region, Mineirão Stadium, Pampulha Lake and in the right UFMG area and buildings -> The biggest Federal University of Minas Gerais (and one of the most important in the country).

15. Belvedere region, a relatively new and rich neighborhood + Altavila (w/ Hard Rock Café)

16. East side and at the top of the highest mountain, the UFMG observatory, one of the most important in Brazil.

17. Moon, from the photo 1.

18. Pampulha Lake, from photo 2.

19. Mineirão Stadium + Mineirinho, from photo 2.

For now this is it, but I have plans to make a gigapan from this landscape with the help of my Celestron C8 Telescope.

Wow! Photos incredibly overwhelming! When I think I've seen completely Belo Horizonte, I see that I'm completely wrong. And this is the 4th largest city in Brazil, besides being the world capital of the bars.

Congratulations on your photos!

Sorry, but there's a wrong information here... BH is the 3 th largest city in Brazil, with about 5 million inhabitants in its metro area, more than 1 million diference to the 4 th largest, Porto Alegre... In Brazil, only São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are bigger than Belo Horizonte...

Moreover, great thread and gorgeous photos from the Mountain Brazilian Capital...

Vector_BH, I took two pictures of your thread to put in the "Rate Our Skylines" in another thread about the city. Is there a problem?

No problem! Indeed, the municipality of Brasilia is a little more populated than the municipality of BH, but in international foruns they usually talk about the metropolis when they use "city", and the metro area of Belo Horizonte is, by far, more populated than the metro area of Brasilia...

São Paulo: around 20 million

Rio de Janeiro: around 12 million

Belo Horizonte: around 5 million

Porto Alegre: around 4 million

Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza, Curitiba and Brasília: around 3 million

Cheers!
