Regarding google earth, it should be the west side of the terminal building.

Horrible indeed. But it also goes to show the fragility of modern architecture.

No offence but I doubt any piece of infrastructure could withstand a bomb / military attack.

Non taken.

Well yes, but there is a degree in what and how much it can withstand.
Solid concrete is obviously stronger than glass.

(Not advocating bunker airports but you catch my drift)

What are you advocating then? Taking possibility of war into account every time you build an airport?
Concrete or glass, you're gonna face a problem of reconstruction sooner or later. Which one is easier and/or cheaper?

Well, yes? During the cold war; this was always the case. Both in west and the east.

I think it was just state of the art to build like this.
While the west preferred to build wide and often dark concrete halls, usually with very functional. The sovjets built high roof semidark terminals, most of the space was occupied by the public hall, usually furnished with a large map of the soviet union showing the aeroflot network and other symbols. Handling capacity in relation to the available space very small, and already in soviet times: bad equiped.

It looked so nice in the previous images. Sad to see it in ruins.

The terminal wont be rebuilt with a war, and the destroyed economy in the Donetsk region. RIP.

The price of war. It will bounce back once the fighting ends and people rebuild what was damaged.
