I'm sorry, I don't know Portuguese. On page 91, this picture shows a turnaround at the terminus station with an impossibly tight curve. Is there actually going to be a turnabout or will they just use switches to move the trains from one track to the other for the return trip.

Yes in the Brazilian forum, the poster you quoted also found the curve at the end very strange, impossible, but if you pay attention you'll see that it's not a curve, just an elegant way to bind the two parallel straddle beams to avoid loose ends, so it is not supposed to be a curve, just a design element binding the two beams. The curve is not supposed to be used by the train.

These designs are merely illustrative, preliminary; they do not imply any actual technical proposal, and the actual official proposals for the monorails do foresee switch beams for transfers between beams, in several configurations.

That would look awesome if they did that! It looks so sleek! I hope they add little touches like this to make the monorail lines look even better!

I always wonder how anyone can maintain the monorail trains. Are they gonna have a maintenance year somewhere?

I know. How will they maintain their monorail trains? I know in Sao Paulo, and London, and New York they shut down their subway systems for a year to do maintenance at least once every 5 years. It's normal practice, no?

Expropriations for Line 6 start

01/03/2012 - DCI
