NEW LINE 4 YELLOW (2010) A DREAM FINALLY COMES TRUE

PLANNED IN THE 60'S AND APPROVED IN 1996, construction finally began in August 2004. The line will relieve the city's horrible lack of connectivity in the Southwest, and will transport some 1 million passengers/day.

The line is scheduled to be delivered in three phases:

PHASE 1 (2010)= main connection stations (4), yard, Butantã Faria Lima station
PHASE 2 (2012)= other 4 stations (which will be left half-finished in 2010)
PHASE 3 (2014)= Vila Sônia station (far southwest of town)

Another very cool video of Line 5, which serves some of Sao Paulo's poorest areas. These are Giovanni Gronchi and Vila das Belezas stations, both elevated. You can see the stark social contrast found in Brazil.
