I'm pretty sure the Raymond Revue signage is still there, but The Box now operates on that site. The Box don't have any signage or advertising outside the club. It is meant to be discreet and sort of hidden away.

This picture was taken in April of this year. This confirms the Raymond Revuebar sign is still there.

Not sure if this has been posted but I found some info on the project/
http://www.sohoestates.co.uk/ProjectArea/Default.aspx "The proposal is for the redevelopment of Walkers Court and surrounding buildings. Walkers Court is the principal Northbound conduit to Berwick Street, with strategic opportunities and a role to play in the success of proposed redevelopments in the Berwick Street area. Walkers Court is situated near to the centre of the Soho Conservation Area. The buildings comprising the proposal site are not noted for any particular historic or architectural merit but they are placed in the context of several others that are. The Court itself is a narrow pedestrianised street between Brewer Street and Peter Street and links Rupert Street with Berwick Street, which is popular with tourists and the local workers and works as a North-South connecting route to and from the heart of the West End." Also there is a photo there that looks like the Raymond Revue Sign as been removed. More info here as well: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/77441395...rs-Court-Plans http://www.docstoc.com/docs/77441395...rs-Court-Plans

I wish developers and Westminster would understand why area's are successful, this scheme while 'ok' as a building has again ditched the sign with a completely banal backlit poster it seems. Why don't they reinvent the original signage or restore it on the building? be at least creative. I'm also unsure why a flimsy looking arcade is necessary either? It's this gradual erosion of soho's lighting that worry's me and this cleaning up while welcome sometimes takes away the character so loved by the people of London who go out and work around here.

Ironically Soho and other areas have the best lighting when they are seedier. Time Square in New York being an obvious example. Can't areas gentrifiy and still have decent lighting?

I found a more recent picture dated February 2012. But it still says Soho Revuebar. Is the Box entrence on the side facing Walkers Court?

The entrance to the Box, i.e the brown wooden door, is in Walker's Court - which is the pedestrianised alleyway. I have no idea if the Raymond Revue Bar sign is still up or not. |

I hope the council resists efforts to put a roof over the passage. That would be a real shame. I suppose redevelopment is inevitable but it will be a real loss to the area. Despite its seediness, it has character at the moment. The replacement doesn't seem to have any character whatsoever - it wants to make a small private arcade or mall and sterilise the surroundings.

This is the most recent source I found from over a year ago.
http://j-glanz.blogspot.com/2011/04/walkers-court.html "One, possibly controversial, aspect of the proposal is to replace the old Raymond’s Revuebar neon sign which was on the Brewer Street frontage (on the right hand side) with a more modern LED advertisement panel which could vary the images portrayed upon it. The sign itself had become part of the iconic aspect of although it has been disused for many years."
