^I can't remember where I got the information, or if it was even about this building, but I remember a 1011ft/308m height being thrown around a while ago.

New York Times - Square feet: Already Wooing Tenants in the Hudson Yards
by Peter Slatin
Quote:
[...]
Extell owns the site at the northeast corner of 11th Avenue and 33rd Street. Gary Barnett, president of Extell, said the site included a new subway entrance and its foundations were already 75 percent constructed because they are shared with the transit authority. Mr. Barnett has named his project One Hudson Yards. He said he was being “very aggressive” in his rents, but added “we’re not giving space away.”

that's what many of the future Hudson Yards Towers will be like.
There's still the girasole, and Sherwood equities' future 2.5m sf tower at 34th and 10th.

Nice contrast, the curves at the base below the straight lines in the tower.

I like the renders, 877 ft is solid and will be a nice addition to the area.... Have to say i'm a bit surprised Extell went a little smaller here for their only project in the yards given they have the space to go supertall.

It's like the 2WTC of the Hudson Yards (diamond shapes)

This will not be built for quite some time. Once Related fills the North Tower, it will start work on the west platform, and thus, will be preparing its third HY office tower which it also will offer at cost. Thus, there will be 2 m more sf of space at a price that no one can compete with. Gary's tower won't be built before 2,020. Consequently, the design and configuration is likely to change.

The third HY office tower will likely not happen before 2017. Thus this tower has a time advantage that may give it a chance in the face of Relateds third tower. Plus, this building has a subway stop literally at its doorstep. This design, with some minor modifications, is a good approximation of what the final product will look like.

That's not necessarily true. The design of the HY towers completely changed from what Related had been pitching for years.

I would have to disagree with the expected start date for One Hudson Yards. I would guess this will happen much sooner rather than later. The No. 7 train line extension is set to be completed by 2014 and it has been mentioned that Extell had worked very closely with the MTA on the construction of the new station because there will be elements of said station to be incorporated into the design and foundation of this building. This may be one of the first to rise in this area.

Even if related co. is building their project at costs, it’s my opinion that Gary is not going to wait and sit around until things play out. He seems to be very aggressive. My guess is he will be competing with Brookfield’s development. I think Brookfield understands that there would be a lot of competition as far as commercial space competing with Related’s North Tower, One Hudson, Girasol and their very own tower 1, so I read somewhere that they are exploring making the smaller twin tower possibly all residential or mixed use to take advantage of the markets current appetite for residential.

I don’t think there will be any waiting around with any of the major players developing the Hudson Yards. They all invested heavily with their respective sites and they may all have the financing already lined up. By waiting too long to start their projects may ultimately make them miss the boat.

So things, IMO will get very busy in the Hudson Yards. Girasol is slated to begin in 2014 with Extell’s maybe starting around the same time or ahead of would be my guess. At least I am hopeful. J

Initially I was bummed about the proposed height of One Hudson, but just thinking about this, it will be a beautiful tower and will be a dominating presence by the Hudson.

Everyday I walk past the NY Times tower going to my office and this morning it just occurred to me its roof height is just 748 ft (not including the spire).

The Trump World Tower would actually be a better comparison standing at 860 ft. Both the NY times & the Trump are definitely not chumps as far as skyscrapers.

Just to put it in perspective, Imagine either sucker (NY Times or Trump World) Standing in place where One Hudson Yards will be standing and you will realize that One Hudson will definitely make a pretty nice impact in this whole project in the yards.

So I’m totally fine if this will be the final height but things are not set in stone and things could change and Barnett could decide to build taller.
