^

just saw this article below.

One Hudson Yards unveils its designs:
http://therealdeal.com/blog/2013/03/...esigns-photos/

" Extell head Gary Barnett announced last year that the project would not move forward until the tower was half-leased at $50 to $100 per foot. And as the Real Deal previously reported, Barnett is still waiting on Jones Lang LaSalle to land a tenant. [Curbed] – Christopher Cameorn "

Well.. at least it says they are currently looking for tenants so we shall see when this puppy will actually start.

I hope it starts soon, because it is one of the most elegant skyscraperdesigns in the world.

I actually like the way this tower is designed. Hopefully nothing changes.

New Towering West Side Gem:

http://m.nypost.com/p/news/local/man...pGJYwXNlN7tEIP

"A source close to the project said office-space rental rates have yet to be set.

Developers have said previously that they would start building only once they have signed up tenants for at least half the space.

“We’re looking to deliver the project by late 2017, 2018,” said the source, adding that the MTA “has built a majority of our foundation” due to the subway construction.

“That’s why [the developer] has the advantage of speed to market without the risk of environmental hazards or hitting bedrock,” the source added."

There will be a lot of competition between new office towers seeking tenants. I don't think that this will pre-lease 900,000 sf of space at an avg of $80/sf any time soon.

New towering W. Side gem
‘Diamond’ bldg. plan

By RICH CALDER
March 27, 2013

This tower is ready to become a jewel in the Manhattan skyline.

A new rendering has been released for a long-stalled office skyscraper at the Hudson Yards. It shows a “diamond”-covered structure that will rise 56 stories on the far West Side. Dubbed One Hudson Yards, the project will feature a faceted facade covered in what designers call a “diagrid” pattern.

The $1 billion building is expected to stand 877 feet tall on 11th Avenue, between West 33rd and 34th streets. Designed by Kohn Pedersen and developed by Extell, One Hudson Yards is set to offer 1.75 million square feet of office space.

“The deliberate expression of the tower’s sleek ‘diagrid’ structural system creates a dramatic visual landmark in the heart of the Hudson Yards District,” says a description on the project’s Web site.

Originally announced in 2009, One Hudson Yards will sit atop the No. 7 subway line extension now under construction, adjacent to the planned Hudson Park project and across from the Javits Convention Center.

It would also be next to the West 34th Street entrance of the subway line, which is scheduled to open next year. A source close to the project said office-space rental rates have yet to be set.

Developers have said previously that they would start building only once they have signed up tenants for at least half the space. “We’re looking to deliver the project by late 2017, 2018,” said the source, adding that the MTA “has built a majority of our foundation” due to the subway construction.

“That’s why [the developer] has the advantage of speed to market without the risk of environmental hazards or hitting bedrock,” the source added.

Extell’s project is just north of mixed-use mega-development that Related Cos. is building on the Hudson Yards rail site bounded by 10th and 12th avenues from West 30th to 33rd streets.

I walked by this site yesterday. A huge drawback to this tower is the horrific-looking, multi-story mechanical structure which will sit on the west side of the building. It's huge and ugly. The rendering camouflages it and makes it appear less ugly than it is. (I refer to the structure on the left.)

$80/sq ft is not terribly expensive, and the fact that this tower's foundations are over half finished gives this tower a great time advantage that ensures it has a chance at landing tenants. Not to mention the fact that it will sit next to a subway stop.

I think that this will not rise for quite some time, and thus, is subject to change. However, I do like the landscaping for Hudson Blvd.

There will likely be some small tweaks to the design, but I think these renders give a pretty good idea of how the final product will appear.

Who knows? Within course of a few months, Related's HY progressed from the tumour ed boxes to the current design. Apparently, this was due to Coach's input.

We will have to see. Id be fine with this design. It is simple yet elegant, and the height, while not supertall, is quite respectable.

I really hope this design does not change by the time this get built. this is one of the projects I am looking forward to. My only wish is that the anchor tenant to be will request to have the building 1,000 ft plus.

Still need to darken the metal grid.

Models used
1 2 3 4

Is this positioned right? I don't have an overview map and it is right up against Equinox.

^ Awsome! Excellent work! It's nice to see the HY project this way.

One Hudson Yards is going to be a very sexy building. Initially the corset was my favorite and now it is One Hudson Yards. Equinox is growing on me too! Overall this mega project will have a nice collection of skrapers.

The spacing looks about right between Corsett and Equinox in the 1st pic. Maybe if you include the Culture Shed it won't appear to have such a big gap.

Girasole next? Am i pushing it?

Nice work. If youre feeling real ambitious, then maybe after the Girasole you could model the Sherwood tower too.

Sherwood and Girasole will be easy compared with the North and South towers. I think Walpole said Sherwood will be a different design but it will make a good place holder.

Phase 2 of hy and the Hudson park are the next step.

This bridge will be fun to do.
