Per Curbed today, we've got some great new renders of the residential interiors:

Quote:
The JDS-developed rental comes with 761 apartments spread out over the two towers. The interiors have also been designed by SHoP, in one of the rare instances that the firm has worked on the interiors of its projects. The standout features in the apartments (some of which can be seen in the renderings) include almost 10-foot high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and custom oak floors.

In the kitchens, SHoP has designed a kitchen island, and will provide residents with Miele appliances including a speed oven, and a statuary marble countertop and backsplash. The master bathrooms will be equipped with black pearl stone floor tile, a full length built-in medicine closet, and a rain shower head and hand shower.

Apart from the building’s 75-foot lap pool located in the skybridge 300-feet above ground, the rental's more grounded amenities include a landscaped park and fountain, a porte cochère, a "curated marketplace," details on which are yet to be unveiled, and a speakeasy.
So... this is crazy luxurious. Like, somehow even more than I expected it to be. And very interesting that the interiors were designed by SHoP themselves -- based on what I'm seeing here, they should go ahead and make that the new norm.

Very curious whether the "speakeasy" will be for residents only or accessible to the public. I'm sure it will be beautifully designed.

I'm all about that Four Seasons-esque grey marble and the inclusion of the little booze trolley cart in the second render. The lobby is a bit too dramatic but the apartments hit the right notes. I also like that SHoP did the interiors. They're becoming a well rounded architecture firm.

Sadly my life isn't quite glam enough to know that that's a Four Seasons staple, but yeah that matched marble and the herringbone subway tiles basically knocked me out of my chair. Like, these guys get me.

And yeah, it's not quite as homey as you might like when walking into your apartment building ... maybe more suited to a hotel. Or the front desk of some supervillain's evil front corporation.

As for the apartments though, it's kind of brilliant how the exterior copper cladding basically becomes the trim for every window, so naturally they extend the trim to the appliances and fixtures inside.

Over half a mile to the nearest train stop and right on top of the Midtown Tunnel mess... not worth the money. Maybe they'll have a T stop 20 years from now.

The building turned out beautifully, though.

These already changed the color, or at least the luster. I'm sure the final look will be amazing.

Such a great addition - nice to see something that isn't dominatingly tall still be a great design and have an impact. This and the pyramid on 57th have added a lot to the river views.

Tilted American Copper Buildings a Dancing Duo in Manhattan Skyline

Quote:
New York City isn't afraid of a little architectural experimentation. Arguably the world's most identifiable metropolis, the largest city in the United States is a magnet for international architects looking to make their mark on the impressive Manhattan skyline. But it's the modern and unmistakable designs of SHoP Architects that have produced some of the biggest local landmarks. Brooklyn's Barclays Center is just one of their wondrous creations, and a tilted twin tower complex at 626 First Avenue is setting the stage for what to expect as work on the supertall 111 West 57th Street advances.
