Favorite Brazil´s Confederations Cup 2013 Stadium

First of all, if moderators think this thread should not be open, please close it and merge this poll with the original Brazil - FIFA Confederations Cup 2013.

We Brazilians are trying to find out which is the best stadium from this year CC. Evaluate all the aspects such as: aerial view, stands, pitch, architeture, location, size, etc. Since people usually try to defend their own cities and clubs´stadium, we thought that an international opinion would value more. So pleae all brazilians should not vote on this poll. You ca participate posting pictures and explaining about the stadiums. BTW, if possible peolple who vote should justify it.

For me it has to be the Maracana. There is something very elegant and classic about oval shaped stadiums, but its usually ruined by an athletics track. With refurbished, it retains that elegance without the running track, making it almost perfect.

I'm also a big fan of the color seating. The lights on the roof exterior add alot without being overbearing. Finally the location of the stadium in a dense environment with mountains in the background really put the finishing touches on it all.

I'm not swayed by emotions to the Maracana because I didn't like the stadium before this renovation.

So my vote is for Maracana, but Pernambuco is close behind.

Very good impression. All world class.

One thing I dislike about Brasilia is lack of tenants. I'm aware of the situation in the city, but unless Brazil play many future home games there, it seems misplaced. Then again maybe the stadium will help the local clubs struggling in the divisions below Serie A to move up in the future. Thats one of the reasons Id put it below Fonte Nova and Castelao. Though Brasilia and Castelao have my favorite exteriors.

1. Maracana
2. Pernambuco
3. Castelao
4. Fonte Nova
5. Nacional
6. Minerao

I'm not convinced on Mineirao and the Maracana. I think these should've been built as completely new stadiums from scratch. The attempts to convert the seating bowls to a more intimate configuration are a bit awkward looking.

For me that's part of its charm. Recife is a "proper" soccer stadium, but lacks that little bit of charm Maracana has.

I guess for me personally I'm always looking at it in terms of sightlines for the fan. The Maracana certainly has charm and history on it's side. That said, I wouldn't want to buy a ticket behind the goals on the ends.

Opinion from Amsterdam:

Although i usually prefer older renovated stadium, as i mentioned earlier in this thread, i'll vote for Brasilia because its architecture is just to awesome to beat. And Salvador airs freshness and energy (if i described that right).
  1. Brasilia - Estadio Nacional
  2. Salvador - Arena Fonte Nova
  3. Rio de Janeiro - Maracanã
  4. Belo Horizonte - Mineirão
  5. Recife - Arena Pernambuco
  6. Fortaleza - Castelão

Way to go JoeyJ!

I'd exchange 3rd and 5th positions and that would be my list.
