I hope the new rendering isn't a dumbing down the the design, but I suspect they'll get rid of all the interesting bits.

Official rendering. Development to be named "YC Condos" at 57 stories.

To make the Asian investors happy, the development will exclude floors 13, 14, 24, 34, 44, and 54 in deference to superstitions that some hold for those numbers.

I find the design quite attractive and considerably more original than the first one, which was clearly just a rip-off of 1 Bloor. Anyone know who the architect is?

I believe it's Graziani + Corazza architects.

Really nice. The materials will pull this off, and I'm glad to see a Toronto project that's not just green-blue.

I'm wondering why they chopped the height.
I mean, 198 meters, seriously??

because they chopped 3 floors off, thus, 9 meters removed. As compensation, 480 University has been bumped from 198 to 207 haha. (nothing had really changed with that project, we just recently learned that the city hadn't been counting the mechanical box in its height number for some reason) doesn't really matter, 3 floors is almost unnoticable. this will dominate the area regardless, and make it so that AURA doesn't look so lonely.

To prevent shadowing on Alexander Street Parkette.

I don't think 480 University was bumped. We just misread the report and didn't see that the mechanical roof wasn't included in the height.

It's a terrific design at any height but it would have been great if three floors were added, not taken away.

Well, atleast we now know that this tower will be 66 floors which is quite amazing for this part of downtown - if I'm not wrong, this would be second only to the Aura in height in the immediate neighbourhood? Striking new addition to the Yonge St skyline.

I must commend the developer for thinking outside the box with the Infinity Pool on the 66th floor and taking the initiative that many developers would shy away from in order to maximize revenues per footage. This definitely looks to be one of the hottest buys of 2014 when sales open, imho.

Would appreciate it if someone can post the entire article from yesterday's Toronto Star (Feb, 27th 2014), it keeps saying 'denied' to me when I try to post it.

it'll be 57 floors not 66, they are not including a bunch of floors officially, inflating the number count. (floor 4, 13, 44, etc.)
