That was the biggest pour in NYC history, somewhere around 4200 yards. Ill try to get a exact number tomorrow. started very early morning, and was finished at like 2pm. 5 plants total all around the city. only 3 operated after 5am. after 5am there was around 2200 yards produced within 8 hours

4200? Aren't they at bedrock? This is going to be a really sturdy tower.

The metlife will lose a lot of itīs presence in the skyline once this is done, itīll be only "one of them" then. Which is not a bad thing.

According to the Curbed Article, the foundations are complete. This tower is gonna start rising soon! Cannot wait for this gem to start making its impact on the NY Skyline!

I agree. I really dislike this building and mostly bc of how choppy it is. I think if it was simplified (in the render, take the two inner sections out) it would be so much more elegant and eye pleasing. The higher levels look so out of scale compared to the rest of the building. Now on my way to work, I'll have to see the top of that and that dreadful building on park and 28th.

Really wish the spire on this was 20-30m taller. Would make a great design excellent. Spires are out of place on most modern designs, but this is an exception.

WOW i didn't expect they ere pouring fundations so soon. And it came as a surprise, since in the last updates we didn't had any signal they were going to pour fundations, there were just excavation pictures. I wonder if the will proceed right away with the construction of the core of thae fundation will be let as is is for a few months.

Here it is a pic of the poured fundation, from the Kohn Pedersen Fox instagram

I have been living under a rock.. as I still thought this was just a proposal until today when I found this thread. At least I arrived just in time to see it rise.

Crews Complete Foundation Pour at One Vanderbilt
Quote:
Since the ground was broken for One Vanderbilt in October, the New York City site of the Kohn Pedersen Fox-designed supertall has undergone some big changes. Just last week, crews were busy pouring the huge foundation for what will become the tallest office tower in Midtown Manhattan. The numbers tell the story: 8,500 tons of concrete, 420 trucks, and 16 hours, all equating to a massive job for one of the largest skyscrapers in the country.

According to those recent renders, the Bank of America Tower and the New York Times Tower got together and had a supermodel for a child.
