Will do. I'm considering doing Kuala Lumpur as well since it will possibly have a megatall and some more supertalls.

as a supertall is 300m (984 ft) what is considered a megatall is twice as tall at 600m. (1968 ft)

for US measurements we usually bump it up to 1000 ft and 2000 ft.

Yeah, but neither can really get over 984 feet comfortably.

Sorry, but no. Someone with unpublished insider information posted it here at SSC. I can't find it right now, but it's substantial. If I find it, I'll post it here.

Here it is! From the rough sketches it definitely looks good. Very BofA-ish. Be more of a fan if the crown isn't open and a different material than the tower I think.

REIT unveils, names its massive new Midtown tower
December 03, 2012 04:00PM

"The city’s largest office landlord, SL Green Realty, released sketches today for its planned office tower, to be known as 1 Vanderbilt.

The company hired architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates to design the 1.55-million-square-foot building, which would be located on Midtown’s East Side in an area where the city is considering a zoning change to allow for taller and bulkier structures.

Isaac Zion, company co-chief investment officer, said the building as designed will not be financially feasible without the full 30 floor area ratio, which could be achieved only through the rezoning. The project is planned for a small block located jest east of Grand Central Terminal, bounded by 42nd and 43rd streets and Vanderbilt and Madison avenues, where SL Green now controls all the properties..."

Nice but not a landmark. It appears to be very tall though, as compared to 330 Madison, which sits directly across Madison. Also, the sf is not a lot. If they signed White & Case or Jones Day (2 firms looking for 400-500k sf of space), that would be enough to start construction.

Very New York-ish. But Midtown seriously doesn't need any more spires.

It looks very nice. It's a shame a whole block of historic buildings will have to go for it to rise.

To my knowledge, this design requires city approval. Therefore, this probably is not the final product.

Not too iconic for it's location. Looks like another joining the club of all-glass-little-details kind of towers. However since this is just a vague drawing I will reserve my opinion till I see some proper renders.

It's far better than anything proposed there before...

Plus it has one of those pointy crowns that everyone on this site seems to love oh, so much.
