At least 2 should be supertall, looking at that model. Massive development.

The third tallest one may just be one as well. It'll certainly be close.

Hopefully whatever is built compliments the skyline well.

Also, from the sketchups of those buildings, it looks like there won't be alot of floors, high floor ceilings and all.

If you saw my comment on the 1WTC thread, then I'd hope you realized this is a rezoning proposal for New York that will most likely be approved, resulting in multiple commercial supertalls. Check the diagrams on the last page, as well as the first few pages, and you'll find the article giving a figure of ~1,500 ft. for a building called 1 Vanderbilt.

REIT unveils, names its massive new Midtown tower
December 03, 2012 04:00PM

"The city’s largest office landlord, SL Green Realty, released sketches today for its planned office tower, to be known as 1 Vanderbilt.

The company hired architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates to design the 1.55-million-square-foot building, which would be located on Midtown’s East Side in an area where the city is considering a zoning change to allow for taller and bulkier structures.

Isaac Zion, company co-chief investment officer, said the building as designed will not be financially feasible without the full 30 floor area ratio, which could be achieved only through the rezoning. The project is planned for a small block located jest east of Grand Central Terminal, bounded by 42nd and 43rd streets and Vanderbilt and Madison avenues, where SL Green now controls all the properties..."

Here's the article, yankee fan.

It's offensive to destroy a building like 51E42nd. Gorgeous pre-war building for a building that will further shadow the gorgeous grand central. I am not a fan of this project in the slightest...

New York isnt a museum. Its not wise to stifle development for the sake of a few obsolete buildings.

Jesus Christ, aren't you people tired of the same old 'museum' argument. So when you save buildings you're suddenly a museum.

Poor Europe with all it's museums, the continent really is doomed.

The building this will replace is not historically significant, nore is it a prominent example of architecutral style that it is a part of. Theres really no logical reason to save this building when the proposed developmet is so economically significant.

If you refer to the quote, that isn't the final design.

What is with these buildings and upper lattice work? One of the earlier designs for WTC 1 had all sorts of lattice work built into it's upper portion as well.
