I would also like to see something neo art deco rise here. If not something modern but elegant.

Nice to see that people still care about art deco. These days everyone goes for 100% glass and mirrors.

I am surprised what you guys are saying. Because new wtc is basically this. Glass, mirrors and height

I like glass skyscrapers better than brick ones, but yes, this should definitely be a brick/stone skyscraper.

One Worldwide Plaza, the Chrysler Building, Skyhouse are some other tall brick towers, not to mention the recent Riverside South development. New York still has a place for brick.

Of course. I'm not saying glassy tall skyscrapers aren't good anymore, it's just not every new building has to be on of them. It's good to see something different, let's call it "out of place"..

Quality is always in front of quantity to me, so I'm happy when I see some short beautiful piece of architecture along with those glassy monsters..

I really hope they expedite the process for this. The premiere business district in the world really needs more modern space.

That said, hopefully they can get to at least 350M since the city wants to create a lot of new prime office space in this area.

This will be a prime tower. I expect a fancy design and a height of ~500m.

Although each have their own aesthetic, I imagine how the lines and the curves of these designs would make a huge impact on the city's skyline. I've thought about how great it would be to construct one of these behemoths, The Tower over Grand Central Terminal
Aka the "Grand Central Terminal Tower", the new 500m+ icon for NYC.

300-400m ok but i don't think we'll see a 500m+ tower here....though it would be cool.

A lot of dreamers here. But 500 m is not excessive, given the amount of supertalls in development.

they cut down 1WTC's spire already, i don't think anyone would go with 500m in New York now.

Those two things have nothing to do with each other.

Once the zoning changes go into effect, this will end up being one of the most valuable sites in the city. I absolutely expect this to be tall and fancy. 500m is optimistic but not impossible.

That's true. The vastness of this NYC construction boom of the 2010s makes such a building indeed feasible in my opinion

Sounds very Chinese..

I'd say a little bit over 400m is realistic.

As Uaarkson said, you can't compare those two projects. 1WTC is handled by idiots and cheap bastards aka the PA and Durst Org. Take a look at 432 Park Ave where CIM, a privite developer, handles things pretty quickly.

the 'grand central tower' has a nice ring to it. I hope it will at least surpass the ESB along with 225 w 57th and 440 Park
