It's the site on the left, but those were never legitimate proposals, just a vision SOM had for the newly rezoned area around GCT.

Oh, the new renders on the last page escaped me. Thank you both for the information! The one on the left wasn't as pretty so I'm glad there's still a 0.0000001% the tower on the right will materialize in a similar look. I wish the base of the tower on the right would have been incorporated with the new renders of the building. The new renders show a somewhat messy tower and the 'vision' base was equally messy. It was a good mix. The 1 Vanderbilt renders for the new tower are much better than the 'placeholder' on the left (outside the base) so I'm glad on that front . I'm guessing there's also no chance for the ring observation deck, correct?

I think you'd be more likely to get struck by lightning than get to see that ring built.

But we haven't any solid evidence for a height change. We should wait a while longer.

Please re-clad the metlife building in a stainless-steel facade. The contrast would be amazing. The concrete in this building is beginning to look old and would benefit from a proper reclad. At least clean it if nothing else is planned, it's due for a wash!

I love the PanA m/MetLife as is. It's a classic part of NY.

Same here. Reclads often turn out really bad. Take a look at Guys Hospital for example. It was bad before, but now it looks God-awful.

It's good if they keep landmarks like pan-am in tiptop shape. Cleaning, restoring if necessary. A reclad would be a bit drastic imo...

The MetLife building is a landmark. It should never be touched.

totally agreed. for people outside US it's only a little bit less recognizable than ESB, Chrystler or TT. Just classic.

I agree. Just the maintenance and regular cleaning should do.

But they could at least add the giant globe that was initially planned on the top.

this kind of looks like the bank of america tower and sears/willis tower mixed into one tower, but at least NYC/US is getting a new super tall skyscraper to add to the collection, where getting closer and closer to Dubai's mega skyscrapers.

One of the things that any visitor to NY would note is the massive amount of helicopter use. They are several copter pads on the east and west sides.
