So here we have it. The plan for this tower is:
65 Story
1.6 Million

I was actually expecting this site to have 2 - 2.5 m sf for this site.

2 Hudson Blvd is a much larger and potentially taller site, but the spire for 1 Vandy can take this to a greater height.
The site is only large enough for 1.6 million square feet via FAR rights; that's why I was asking about block dimensions a few weeks back, and ultimately assessed that the building would be relatively short.

Agreed. 65 floors is kinda short as well for the kind of height I was hoping for this tower, the renderings are a little misleading as they showed that the tower at great height and looked imposing. Curious what the height will be for this. Definitely a supertall by roof height (it will be close)and spire takes it up a notch. Dunno, we'll see.

65 floors? Eww, I expected at least 80.

This will hardly break the 350m mark. All those big lots (1V, 2HB, 15Penn etc.) have so much sq ft, yet developers decide to go mediocore. I beginning to wonder who's got the cojones to propose something really bold (100 stories+).

This sounds like what was expected. ~350m~ is what the original sketch suggested.

I would love for a 1,500ft tower in mid town but the reality is that that will never happen because of Mosesphobia.

With 65 floors. That is about the same as the Manhattan West Towers.

Well floors really don't determine height very much nowadays, and this has a spire unlike any of the other 400m or so towers planned.

Indeed, but still. Very high floors, or a huge spire which I don't hope. It shouldn't be bigger than these of the NYTT or BOAT or 1WTC.

Made me realize that things might not be all that bleak at 1 Vanderbuilt!

the 65 floors don't include the 'crown' lattice structure

the crown contains roughly 18 floors, so should work out at around 83floors (if counting the lattice crown)

Good point! I see this being, with the spire, right around 400 m.

Not to mention, the fact that the rezoning was approved to include residential might alter the height and the design (at least at the top).

Another good point. Yeah, I don't see this failing to surpass ESB's height.

True. There is tons of potential here in terms of height.

Plus we need to remember this rezoning covers lots of other building sites. Even if this isn't as tall as we want, there could be other projects that are.

I doubt that any office building under the new rezoning will exceed 1,250'. The area near GCT with the greatest FAR has relatively small blocks.
