I still don't envision anything going higher than 1, 250, maybe, 1, 350.

Well, the actual tower can't turn out worse than that diagram I hope.

It's the top that bothers me as a design element. I like the use of space for observation deck purposes, but it just looks funny stuck on top of the building like that. (The diagram itself looks good.)

True that.. The diagram is good job but it shows a really ugly tower.

This tower will be another magnificent supertall in NY's crown.

the diagram has it the 2nd tallest next to WTC! I hope it can end up being that tall. The cladding should be silver/blue and the diagram would be perfect! The tower would appear nicer.

Does anyone know what that rectangular box near the base of the tower in that diagram?? Will that be some kind of landing deck for future flying cars? hehe.

Seems if they made the top a little wider and taller it would look good. As of now, it's too short and narrow. It simply doesn't fit the proportions of the bulky tower.

What I hope is that at the east side of GCT, they don't build higher tahn 750-800 ft. The magnificent Chryshler Building crown doesn't desserve to be dwarfed and obscured by a taller tower just next to it, at least this one is two blocks away.

I agree, it would look better more like this

I dig that. Reminds me a bit of the Transamerica Pyramid in SF, with a cubist sculpture at the top.

CCs77 - I think that looks better and is probably more accurate as the renderings we have seen show that the lattice crown is around 18 'floors' which are the same height as the actual floors below

The diagram does not accurately depict the top. 2 of the 3 facets of the crown flow seamless from the east and west facades.

Just so I'm not confused... the vast majority of these projects other than the exceptions cannot start construction until 2017. The exceptions include 1 Vanderbilt and a few others... when will 1 Vanderbilt LIKELY have groundbreaking and what will be its earliest neighbors breaking ground before the rest of the projects can legally get started?

I want to say it's 2018 but I'm not positive.
