The expectation from the real estate industry is that the process will begin in earnest early next year, allowing for a majority of the work done on the original plan to remain usable.

“I’m hopeful that the proposal will be early in 2014,” Mr. Spinola said. “Once a proposal is put forward, we want to get the clock going.”
Will be soon enough.

'Early 2014' is business-speak for Late 2014.

This is awesome payback! Although it seems that the rezoning is happening despite Garodnik's efforts to stymie Bloomberg, that putz's grandstanding was prompted in connection with his goal to become speaker, which it seems, he won't! PAYBACK to the PUTZ!! Bloomie must be laughing!!

Wonderful news. I sent an angry message to Garodnick on Twitter back when the efforts were stymied, Robert.

Bloomie always wins! We will have Midtown East rezoned in short order.

I agree. His record speaks for itself. New York City is safer, cleaner, greener, easier to get around (Subway 7, East River ferry, Citibike, five borough taxi) and as economically diverse and healthy as ever. Approaching 4 million jobs for the first time in history! He has also left a balanced budget and given the next mayor leverage in his dealings with the obnoxious unions.

I think we should rename Hudson Boulevard, "Bloomberg Boulevard!"

Nice try, but you aren't fooling anyone, Mr. Bloomberg.

They should build a new city hall like London did, and make it a large white cube and call it the Bloom Berg.

He will no doubt be remembered as one of NYC's greatest mayors. What we have right now is just a case of Bloomberg fatigue but once it's settled and people look back at what he accomplished, he will be much appreciated. What I will miss most of all is having a pragmatic, non partisan leader; I'm a New Yorker so I'm rooting for De Blasio to succeed but one thing's for sure, he will be a more partisan mayor and I think NYers will get to miss that aspect of Bloomy.
I think they better invite him when they pass that Midtown re zoning, after all that was his idea and he did most of the work, a photo op without him would be a total sham.

Yes that was off topic.. Just commenting on mr. Mayors methods for cleaning up New York City. The re-zoning will be a great boost for financially and aesthetically for this district.
