I think it is a great design. In fact, I would have been fine with this...

feel free to laugh at the terribleness , and by all means improve it if you can.

That looks epic! To me that screams New York more than any other renders of this tower Ive seen so far!

SL Green details costs for Grand Central improvements
http://www.capitalnewyork.com/articl...l-improvements

Quote:
Facing questions from community board members and critics of its plan to construct a skyscraper next to Grand Central Terminal, developer SL Green is now detailing—line by line—how much it intends to spend on transit improvements in exchange for the right to build.

Representatives from the developer met on Tuesday afternoon with transportation advocates and later in the evening with community board members, briefing the groups on exactly how they reached the $210 million price tag affixed to the package of changes planned for the terminal and surrounding areas….

2020. Demolition and prep work will take a few years. Demo will begin in 2015.

The building may be finished as early as 2019 from what I've read but SL Green cannot open the building until all the infrastructure work is completed, and the targeted date is by 2020. But by 2017, 2018 it will definitely be showing up prominently in the Midtown skyline after the next couple of years will go mainly to demolition of properties on the site and getting the foundation in place, along with the transit infrastructure improvements. Glad the meeting appeared to go well, ad it looks as if we will soon see the process begin towards the revival of Midtown East.

On skyscraperpage they are showing some renderings that have vastly improved the tower imo.

Just had a look, and they're all the same ones which have been posted here...

And if you're on about this one, then I'm pretty sure it was created by Funkyskunk on here:

This is the current official design, which is much more graceful and complex; and has some Art Deco vibes and features to it:

yes that's Funky's handy work of One Vandy. Lol. The real deal probably swiped it from here on SSC. They did not even bother to credit the rendering.

Don't they have that song repeatedly played in all parts of the country or is it only in New York? I don't travel a lot.

But I loved the joke.

I thought that Modell's was only in NY, NJ, and Ct (and maybe Philly).
