I'm hoping for a more dominating tower perhaps with a spire. With all of the supertalls that will be rising in this area in the next 20 years it needs to be

This ring is hideous. What a horrible way to ruin the city

OMG I didn't realize there were two towers in the complex! I didn't see the second one, and I thought the ring was held up by its edge from just one building. Well hidden.

I know that's not what is being built, but the ring does look awful. The towers are far too tall for such a design and it would destroy the skyline. The towers on their own look nice, though.

The biggest mistake! It will ruin the skyline.

It's nice for cities like Dubai or Astana, not for the beautifull city of New York.

i have to admit that it looks weird, but yet amazing. so what do you guys estimate the height of the building? i guess it would be between 350m and 400m looking at chrysler next to it.

That Donald Trump should look for a decent wig en stop destroying the cities gems.

Take that hideous glass cladding of that building at once!

What benefit could he have had for doing it? It costs money to put it there and it's fugly.

that's exactly why I think it has little chance of getting chosen and build

The idea of the ring is controversial in itself, especially for people who don't like change. But the design of it is quite elegant if you ask me. It looks very thin hence lite. In fact it looks like not attached to any building but levitating over the ny skyline. Very cool idea. But I have to admit if it was too high in the skyline it would have negative impact on the skyline seen from far away (the same problem 432 park ave have) so I would have to see such render to make my opinion complete, but I have no doubt seen from above or from street level looking up it would look out of this world in real live and I have no doubt it would be major tourist attraction.

It would help if people actually read the article, instead of just looking at the rendering. That's not a real proposal at all.

I read the whole article before you told me to. As I understand som's proposal is one of concept ideas for the redevelopment of the area meaning in future it can eventually became real proposal and then build in this or similar state so I see no reason to not comment on it.

At first sight I would agree on that. But with the ring moving up and down I'm all for it! Not a proposal, but can become one...
