This is almost half a year in advance, it was expected for mid 2017. In addition they have renamed Tongbai Lu to Wu-yi Gongyuan. And then there's the station with three different spellings: Lücheng, Lvcheng, or Lyucheng Guangchang.

The airport line appears to be interlined with line 2. The signage in the airport station shows the outbound terminus as Liuzhuang, which is the northern terminus of line 2.

This seems to be the new diagram for line 1, which as you say was just extended in both directions.

I must laugh every time i look at the station name of the new line:

新郑国际机场 - Xinzheng International Airport

Guys dont believe it. This airport may have some international flights, but it's for sure not international. I was so confused (at first) then really pissed off there. Nobody speaks there english. And by saying nobody i really mean NO-BO-DY. There is hardly any information of international flights. The info point has no clue what any other word than 'hallo' means. And also the so called airport express bus was hard to find. You get the info about it online, but not in situ. I'm glad they opened the metro line - ppl wont get angry and confused. It was really bad experience.

are you sure you went to the right area? They have a map online that shows international check-in.

http://www.zzairport.com/c/list.php?tid=27

There are flights to anglophone YVR, so presumably someone would speak some English.

Hahaha i found on my own the international check-in... but it was closed. The security for international flights was also empty. They moved the flight to the domestic counter (no info on the screens ofc.) which i discovered by walking through all the counters. Anyway - only the guys from Emirats at the check-in did speak. Now i laugh at this situation.

That's unfortunate. But the good news is that now international travelers can get to the airport using a metro that appears to have plenty of English signage.

Zhengzhou metro network reaches 100km
January 16, 2017
The Chinese city of Zhengzhou more than doubled the size of its metro network on January 12 with the start of trial passenger operation of two extensions which take the total length of the system to more than 100km.

The second phase of Line 1 adds extensions at both ends of the initial 25.4km line, which opened in December 2013. The western extension from Xiliuhu to Henan University of Technology has seven stations, while the eastern extension from Zhengzhou Sports Centre to New Campus of Henan University includes three stations. The two extensions have a combined length of 15.4km.

The 42km, 14-station southern extension of Line 2 from Nansihuan to Xinsheng International Airport is known as the Suburban Line, reflecting the longer distance between stations.

The initial 25.2km section of Line 3 is due to open next year, followed by the 40.4km first phase of Line 5 in 2018.

So it appears Zhengzhou has gone full steam with metro construction. In addition to the recent breakgrounds of lines 6 (a North-Southwest line) and 10 (a line conecting the Western suburbs of Shangjie and Xingyang to the city center), it seems the first phase of line 7 (A North-South line to the West of line 2) has been U/C for a while now. There are several more lines set to start construction soon, namely line 8, the remaining sections of line 9 (currently known as the Chengjiao line), line 11, line 14, line 16 and line 17. In all, Zhengzhou metro will go from nothing to 540 km in just 10 years .

That's amazing. And Henan is considered one of the "less developed" provinces.

There is not agreement across sources about the length: 93.7 km, 94.8 km, 95.4 km are three different figures I found.

Anyway, no new openings are expected until next year, when lines 3 and 5 and two extra stations on both extremes of line 1 are scheduled to open. After that every year will see at least two new lines or extensions, with the bulk of them opening in 2020.

Late comers do have advantages. They may become more developed in the near future.

~44Km of utility tunnels in Zhengzhou (power, communication, gas, water and drainage) ...

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/ph..._135550276.htm

A similar project in Singapore will cost ~US $1.5 billion ( much smaller 6m tunnels - http://tunnellingjournal.com/news/si...-s2bn-tunnels/ ).
