Station names of Changsha Line 2

photoed by @针妙丸厨

Almost every metro system in China will put the large-print name of station on the wall or pillars. Is other country do the same thing ?

the brackets includes the Chinese word (which is not translated to English from Pinyin) and its pronounce (one syllable match one character) .

Place names will be transliterated

West Mei xi Lake (梅溪湖西) . west(西,xi)、lake(湖,hu)

Lu yun Road (麓云路) . road(路,lu)

Culture and Arts Center(文化艺术中心) . culture (文化,wen hua)、arts (艺术,yi shu)、center(中心,zhong xin)

East Mei xi Lake (梅溪湖东) . east(东,dong)、lake(湖,hu)

Wang cheng po (望城坡)

Jin xing Road (金星路) ; "金星“ means the name of the road , for the planet , it refers ” the Venus “(金星)

Xi hu park (西湖公园) . park (公园,gong yuan)

Ying wan zhen (溁湾镇)

Ju zi zhou (橘子洲)

Xiang jiang middle Road (湘江中路) . middle (中,zhong)

Wu yi Square (五一广场) . square (广场, guang chang)

Fu rong Square (芙蓉广场)

Ying bin Road (迎宾路口) . “路口(lu kou)” means the crossing or the entrance of the road.

Yuan jia ling (袁家岭)

Railway starion (长沙火车站) ,But I think "Changsha railway station" will be better , it missed "Changsha (长沙)" .
Rail station (火车站,huo che zhan)

Jin tai Square (锦泰广场)

Wan jia li Square (万家丽广场)

Ren min East Road (人民东路)

Changsha Avenue (长沙大道) . Avenue (大道,da dao)

Shawan Park (沙湾公园)

Du hua Road (杜花路)

South Railway Station (长沙火车南站) . south (南,nan)

Guang da (光达)

It's good that they use translation rather than pure transliteration for station names, although they made a mistake in two of the station names: West Meixi Lake and East Meixi Lake. They should be Meixi Lake West and Meixi Lake East instead. There is only one lake and the names give an illusion that there are two, one is called West Meixi Lake and the other is called East Meixi Lake. In fact, they mean the station situated at the west/east side of the lake.

Here are the characters that did not get translated: po (坡) - hillside, ling (岭/嶺) - mountain ridge, zhen (镇/鎮) - town, and xihu (西湖) - West Lake.

BTW, why are some signs bold while others not?

Chinese appears to be correct ('Meixi hu dong' and 'Meixi hu xi', otherwise it would have been 梅溪东湖 and 梅溪西湖). I prefer pure transliteration as it retains its literal Chinese sound, IMO there's no need to translate anything.

There is anywhere in the world where you can take a metro using various lines without changing vehicles?

There is no point in system compatibility in metro systems, each line is (should be) a complete system by itself.

The dots screen of each end of the carriage show train , showing "ChangSha Metro Welcomes You !" The Rolling stock of Line 1 (6B) were made by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd.

LCD screens are showing strip map of Line 1

Cardboard are used for protecting the seats and floor when the train testing .

ShangShuangTang Sta. , the only station that is elevated . Good to see the nice body of the rolling stock .

I actually expected line 1 to open before both the maglev line and the western extension of line 2. Now Changsha has the two main lines of its planned network, and more lines are underway.

Tracking China

Test Runs on Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway Now Underway
BY DAVID FENG · 19 OCTOBER 2016

The new intercity railway linking Changsha, capital of central southern China’s province of Hu’nan (Mao’s home province), is nearing full completion, with test runs underway since 14 October 2016. What’s particularly special about this line is that it has the most underground rail stations in a single line.

Never mind it’s short (at 95.5 km or 59⅔ mi); it’s got 21 stations, has been built for speeds up to 200 km/h (125 mph; although initial operations will start at 160 km/h, or 100 mph), and around a third of the stations — that’s 8 in number — are underground.

12 of these stations on the entire line opening soon will be in the city of Changsha, with Zhuzhou home to 5, and Xiangtan home to 4. Over four-fifths of the line will either be on bridges (47 of them, totalling 53.45 km or nearly 33½ mi) or in tunnels (25 in all, totalling 31.86 km or nearly 20 mi). The longest tunnel, Shumuling, goes for 12.8 km (8 mi) — in one go.

When this new line opens, travel between Changsha and Zhuzhou or Xiangtan will take only 30 minutes from the main station in central Changsha. Tracks split between Xiangtan-bound and Zhuzhou-bound ones just after the station of Muyun.
Depending on the frequencies of the trains, one wonders if this will resemble an S-Bahn service.

According to this article, the line is expected to open December 2016:

http://hn.rednet.cn/c/2016/10/15/4108206.htm

However, according to this article, 4 of the 21 stations (those west of Changsha station) will not open until 2017:

http://www.thepaper.cn/newsDetail_forward_1543857

Here is a map. Changsha station is the 5th from the top. The stop immediately to the north and west of Changsha station is Kaifu Temple station, which is expected to provide a connection to Changsha subway Line 1.

http://cs.bendibao.com/traffic/changzhutanchengjitielu/

A further three-station extension is under construction to the west.
