Nope, still in trials, full operation is expected to begin in May. Or at least that is what I've read.

Trail running of line 2

photoed by @8684东莞公交

Before the official commercial operation , it usually has a kind of trail run that let the local people to ride the train . On one hand , experience the convenience of "metro life" , on the other hand , help the firm to find mistakes about the service . This kind of event is become more and more common in China .

The pillar for guidance , it is the nationwide standard that each entrance of metro/subway station has a pillar standing there telling people "here the station"
The information including the logo of the firm , station name in CH/ENG , number of entrance ("A" in the pic) , which line the station belongs to , and the nationwide standard logo of "metro"

Dots screen display the information about destination as well as next station . Strip made of paper shows the route the train running on .

Humen Railway Station (虎门火车站) , the only elevated station of line 2 , e quipped with platform safety doors .

Station written in calligraphy , telling you "here is China!"

In China , usually , the color strip on the train body matches the color of the line . As the pic shows , red train for red line 2 .

But the color of the seat and handles is light blue , hah hah , who cares ?

The calligraphy just says the name of station; Humen Railway Station [虎门火车站]. It is on GZ-SZ-HK Express Rail link [广深港高速铁路] though, so there might be travelers arriving in China for the first time.

If - someday, as planed - the HK-SZ-DG and GZ grow their metros together - wouldnt that be the biggest metro system ever?

Well they need an integrated payment card on the PRC side only and then it would be easy.

There's a dual purse smartcard for HK/SZ and HK/GZ but SZ and GZ won't integrate their farecards with each other.

There will be even more metro cities, like Foshan and Huizhou, in the Pearl River Delta metro cluster as is outlined here: http://mic-ro.com/metro/metrohopping.html

Foshan is integrated with GZ Metro so essentially it is one system.
