Which is interesting only for metro aficionados like us. The vast majority of people would probably prefer fast intercity trains.

Gurgaon, Noida and Greater Noida are more like suburbs of Delhi than full fledged cities with independent identities.

There is already a regional rapid rail service on the Guangshen Railway between Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Dongguang and Guangzhou with trains leaving every 10 to 15 mins. Another parallel rapid rail line along the east bank of the Pearl River between Shenzhen, Dongguang and Guangzhou will open in 2018.

Exactly. Gurugram (the new name of Gurgaon), Noida etc are the extended parts of Delhi, and is connected by Delhi Metro beside of their own metro, but Dongguan is a separate city from Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Guangzhou metro and Shenzhen metro has no extension to Dongguan, so it is different than India.

Dongguan Plans to Construct Seven Subway Lines to Guangzhou and Shenzhen

https://www.yicaiglobal.com/news/don...u-and-shenzhen

(Yicai Global) Sept. 21 -- Guangdong province’s Dongguan city, an important manufacturing hub in South China, plans to construct seven subway lines to connect the city with Guangdong’s capital of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Nanfang posted on its WeChat account.

One line will link Dongguan and Guangzhou, and six with run between Dongguan and Shenzhen.

The implementation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area strategy will strengthen Dongguan’s urban railway traffic connections with Guangzhou and Shenzhen and unite the region near the mouth of the Pearl River in line with citizens expectations, said a Dongguan Develop and Reform Bureau insider.

This one sort of flew under the radar, the underground downtown section of the Donghui ICR to Daojiao Station opened

By 盐田站

Changping Dong Station the former terminal of the line

Changping Nan station, one of the underground stations. Overall it looks like what a subway station looks like if China Railways built it. A strange mix of mainline design standards and things that Chinese subways should have.

Daojiao Station on the other side of Dongguang

Door to transfer to Dongguang Metro Line 2 at Xiping Xi Station. Both the intercity and metro lines are underground and you can see the difference in ambiance between the two stations.

A question in the Guangzhou thread maybe better asked here:

That's the one that in principle would allow someone so inclined to take metro Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen (and further to Hong Kong, if you ignore the customs walk between Shenzhen and Hong Kong).

Foshan all the way to South Horizons by metro has been an epic journey I've been planning to undertake for a while. They're just not building quickly enough...
