30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin) is my favourite in Europe and my second favourite in the World after the CCTV Headquarters in Beijing!

i'm sure you can barely find this kind of state of art iconic building in anywhere around the globe and it is a well known symbol of the powerful financial centre

One building by Foster which is really a masterpiece is 2 World Trade Center. I think he is a good architect, though he sometimes does make ugly buildings too

30SMA looks like a *****. Or a bullet, or something. Torso is absolutely beautiful and innovative. The first ever twisting tower. Plus it's white and beautiful.
There's even a copy of 30SMA in Barcelona.

My favourite U/C Foster building is 2WTC.
My favourite Foster proposals:
Hermitage Plaza, Paris

Even more beautiful is Russia Tower

I adore the Ryugyong Hotel, and I think it's the most beautiful structure on Earth, but Russia Tower is the only proposed building that I truly believe can overtake the Ryugyong as my favorite building of all time, if it's built. it's absolutely magnificent.

My friend when visiting NY actually said, "maybe this one is drawn by the same guy who did that pointy tower in London (refering to Gherkin)". Even the amateurs sense when Foster is around And the building is beautiful btw, less iconic than Gherkin but more stylish and eye pleasing.

Well I don't understand it. Gherkin is actually one of just few good examples of organic architecture. Imo I think it is one of the best if not the best. Notice that organic towers usually have boring glass cladding with no details - just glass, while gherkin has double layer glass with grid inside, steel-like rails outside and all that nicely composed with double color glass. There is definitely quality here. That is actually why I like Sir Norman Foster projects so much - because he always keep attention to details of the cladding, and I think I won't be wrong if I say great architecture is very often more about quality cladding than about the shape of the building. Especially in the case of this tower. I agree, it is a bit fatty (and I'm not a big fan of organic architecture myself) but its not an overstatement that it's cladding is truly a masterpiece.

Mercury's cladding is so beautiful, and one of the best in the world. I'm glad they added a few extra floors to the top section because it looks disproportionate in that render.
