Vestibule, Diocletians palace

The circular Vestibule formed the link between the Peristil and the imperial apartments of Diocletian's Palace. Above it is a cupola that was once covered by mosaics and marble.

Parallel stereographic view of the Via dell'Abbondanza (the main east-west corridor) through the city of Pompeii. View from the entrance to the forum, with stone barriers in the foreground to prevent wheeled traffic from entering the forum. The south wall of the Eumachia building is on the left.

The tetrastyle Temple of Fortuna Augusta at Pompeii exhibits two distinct types of Corinthian capitals, as is evident from the photos here, both photographed in situ: left: Sept. 2008; right: Oct. 2005. The two variant styles are clearly visible in the carving of the acanthus leaves. Both capitals have been dated to the period of Augustus, perhaps belonging to two building phases or possibly representing different workshops.

The altar in the Temple of Apollo in Pompeii, which dates from 80BC.

The Temple of Apollo is the oldest of the religious buildings in Pompeii, dating back to the sixth century BC. It is to the west of the Forum
