Somebody brought up Chicago. Anyway, I hope the new rendition of this project will be just as cool, if not better. Spires FTW!

Yes, I've been to both cities.

Demolition permits have been filed for all structures on this site. I walked by on 24 Jan 2013, and it's ready for the wrecking ball.

It isn't just some tower, I bet it will be quite noticeable since it's in an area with not much 200+ towers. Though it will be dwarfed by the ESB.

I walked by on 19 Feb. 2013 and observed that netting and scaffolding has been erected.

I'm curious to see what CIM, the developer of 432 Park, proposes for the empty site that it purchased at 176 Madison, which is across 33rd Street from JDS' project.

I welcome the loss of this junk.

P.S.: Yank, did you get any photos of CIM's site across 33rd from here? For those unfamiliar with these adjacent sites, this is what was planned for 176 Madison before the prior developer sold it to CIM.

No, I didn't. I don't recall seeing anything on site for it though. Is that likely to be a hotel?

Hotel/condo was the plan in 2007. I don't know what CIM plans for the site.

As of 3 May 2013, these structures are about 50% demolished. The developer filed a NB permit recently. Surprisingly, the new tower will be only about 130m. I assume that there will be a massive retail component which will consume a lot of space.

Oh that's a pity It won't even be noticeable in that area than. But everything better than the former buildings.

And a New York developer underwhelms again.

I walked by on 24th May and saw that the buildings have been fully razed. As this will only be about 125m tall, a simple design is likely. I hope that the facade is clad in stone.

Wow so short! That's very disappointing...

I wonder what will rise on the site to the north? The previous proposal was really nice, would love CIM to pull a 400 CPS and use the existing design for the site.

Short can be good. Since this is still a second-tier area, a lot of the development is tawdry. A garish 200m glass tower this close to the ESB would have been bad.

I agree with you regarding the adjacent site. The Pre-crash proposal was nice.
