I like the slender proportions. As a much fatter tower this would have been a dud but even though the architecture looks like dated Late Modernism, it works.

It really does look like something you'd find in 90's Houston or Dallas. Seriously does not fit in well in NYC. I'm appalled that they would build something so awfully dated today.

This thing looks like a wierd crash between the worst of 60's modernism and 90's glass cladding. One floor of glass left to go to finish it.

Even worse. It shouldn't bring so much attention as it does now with It's ugly cheap glassy facade taken straigh out of the 80's...

It's actually very nice glass. Also, considering that this is a Class-B area, it's a decent tower.

I agree. Not every project needs to be fantastic. This tower is what it is & not bad for the area for this kind of office space. In my opinion better than what was there and could have been much worst. It's a positive addition for "Murray Hill"

Where did I say that this project should be fantastic? For the same amount of money they could come up with something much more decent.
Anyway, one ugly tower for 10 world class is nothing to be concerned with. If only city governors would make better job at protecting old gems from demolishing, that would be ideal.

Sorry I did not mean to quote you directly. I was being general. I agree and see your point & definitely could have been much better but all I'm saying is I think it's pretty decent for the area. We all had seen much much worse with some of the non prime projects in Manhattan and fortunately I feel lucky with this design.

Ok, no problem, I thought you are refering to my post directly because we were quoting ourselves before
Anyway, what's wrong with this area? It's next to the most iconic tower ever, one block away from Park Ave, close to Penn Station and Broadway... Finally, lot is sorrounded by beautiful, historical buildings.
This is one of the world's top spots, and I think It deserves more than pretty kitchy tower IMO.

I don't mean to make it sound that there is something wrong with the area. It’s nice and there is great potential for some great developments.

Historically, this section has not commanded class A office space and Korean town kind of extends up to Madison Avenue along 33rd street. This developer apparently decided to be realistic with its expectations and make a nice enough tower to raise the profile in this area. It’s not a game changing development but enough to improve what is currently there. Hopefully if successful, future projects could be built with bigger ambitions with great designs. A missed opportunity for something great?? Even a nicer design?? Absolutely but it is what it is now and I’m actually satisfied with it but definitely can understand why its not popular with some of you guys.

This turned out decently. This remains a non-prime area, so "decent" is acceptable (though we obviously wish for masterpieces all the time).

The little orangey building in the middle just sold and will be redeveloped. I hope that the developer gets the little corner building on 5th.
