Too bad to see such an uninspiring design trying to make a "landmark" impact on the Boston skyline.

I would have preferred something soaring, better proportioned - with setbacks and an interesting top.

The Hancock Center will stay the landmark of Boston.

And this is Boston, so anything above 400 feet that is actually being built is amazing in itself. There seems to be an attitude change going on in regards to height and eye catching architecture. Whether that will actually translate into some great designs and projects is yet to be seen.

Because many of us do not like 60s modernism. It is interesting to me as a symbol of an era, but it is soulless and in this case had no relation to the rest of the city.

Or at least it didn't in the recent past. Now we will have many soaring skyscrapers in Boston to compete with it. Boston will slowly become just another glittering jumble of high-rises. It might as well be in Indiana or Kansas.

It's not my taste, but I don't see any reason to hate the building.

Yeah! No relation to the rest of the city...

....except for that big indoor mall and food court underneath that is heavily used by tourists and locals both!

You really do seem to have a strange idea of the city. If your only concern is that Boston will "lose its identity" (if you don't think it already has), then why not advocate for some wild, "iconic", Dubai/Pudong-style tower (no disrespect) that no one would build anywhere else, and calcify its image in that way? Why not be concerned for the people that actually constitute the city, and therefore be happy that projects like these do two great things:

-represent the fact that Boston is, has been, and is becoming more of an important city on the global stage, one that people want to come to and experience, and
-alleviate pressure on housing prices (although only sort of in a luxury tower like this one), enabling more people to enjoy living in the great city it is?

They don't call it "New England" for nothing .

Glad to see that old pit finally growing something.
