Penelope Cruz, Olivia Wilde in Disney’s exclusive Dream Portraits

Penelope Cruz and Jeff Bridges.

Renowned photographer, Annie Leibovitz has teamed with Disney theme park to release exclusive portraits of some of the biggest stars of Hollywood.

The new ad campaign features Penelope Cruz as Belle and Jeff Bridges as the prince from Beauty and the Beast.

In another shot titled "Famed is Thy Beauty", the glamorous Olivia Wilde poses as the Evil Queen in a scene from the famous Disney story "Snow White". In the scene, Alec Baldwin acted as the mirror's spirit.

A third shot features Queen Latifah as the tentacled Ursula from "The Little Mermaid".
The ad campaign titled "Let the Memories Begin" was started by Disney in 2007 featuring stars like Scarlett Johansson as Cindrella, Tina Fey as Tinker Bell, Jessica Biel as Pocahontas and David Beckham as Prince Philip in the past.

However, this was the first time that Disney has included wicked Disney villains in the campaign shot. Get a glimpse of the campaign below:

Shanghai Disneyland

Official Shanghai Disneyland Plan Unveiled

An official map of Shanghaî Disneyland resort was made public yesterday and you can see it above. Four hotels are indicated on the plan, and one of them is so close to the theme park that it may be another hotel with "view on the park" like the Miracosta at TDS or the Disneyland Hotel at DLP. Also, no need to be a genius to understand that SDL second gate will be build in the future where the white space is, on the right of the first park.

I think we are close to the big final announcement during which the whole project should be unveiled! In the meantime you can read below what Shanghaî Daily reports about this SDL plan:

"The planned area covers 7 square kilometers, with the location of the theme park, hotels and parking areas clearly marked.

Two Metro lines, Line 2 and Line 11, will converge at the area. Line 11 is included in the project's first phase while the Line 2 stretch will be introduced later. They will share a station inside the area, according to the plan.

The 24.5 billion yuan (US$3.73 billion) phase 1 will cover 3.9 square kilometers, while the rest is listed as reserved land for future development.

Four plots in the phase one project are marked as hotel compounds, but the plan doesn't specify how many hotels it will contain. Two hotel compounds will be built by the southern side of the inner lake.

The amusement facilities and the inner lake are separated by support facilities including a parking lot, a hotel and recreational facilities.

Water will be a prominent feature of the amusement park. A river, about 10 kilometers long and 60 meters wide, is being created around the park area and a 0.39-square-kilometer lake will be inside.

The theme park is close to the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, Kangqiao Industry Zone and the International Medical Zone, according to the blueprint.

The park will have two main entrance boulevards - Xiupu Road will lead to the western entrance and Liufeng Road to the southern entrance.

The theme park, in the southeast of Shanghai, is about 21 kilometers from People's Square, 18km from Lujiazui, 12km from Pudong International Airport and 30km from the Hongqiao transport hub."

Park News - For anyone still wondering if Disney may drop their new Marvel characters into a new special land at Shanghai Disneyland, I’m told that there are no plans for this on the table right now. While everyone is still curious to see just what Disney may be planning for these characters, China just isn’t the right market to try it out.

First Look: Hitchhiking Ghost animatronics return with enhanced ’spirit’ in The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World

When we reported last month that The Haunted Mansion’s animatronic Hitchhiking Ghosts had been replaced by projections, we said the change was likely temporary while work continued behind-the-scenes. Today Disney Imagineers materialized the newest versions of these famous specters, once again in animatronic form.

Ezra, Phineas, and Gus, as they’ve come to be called, are brighter than ever, with an eerie blue glow. The trio no longer stutter through repetitive hitchhiking motions, instead smoothly waving their hands back and forth, thumbs-out, in a more realistic manner. Their heads turn as well, offering additional realism to the figures.

But enough of the description. See the new Hitchhiking Ghost animatronics for yourself in the video below:

Also new is what appears to be a stack of luggage (and possibly a portrait) next to Phineas on the left of the scene. While the ghosts are bright blue, the new props are quite dark and difficult to make out, even after two rides through The Haunted Mansion.

The overall look of the Hitchhiking Ghosts now more closely resembles that of their projected versions that follows them in the still-covered mirrors in the Mansion’s finale scene. It seems that effect isn’t quite finished, though it does appear that those projections are here to say (and will possibly be interactive once complete).

The new Haunted Mansion interactive queue was also not open today, with work still going on inside. That, along with these new Hitchhiking Ghost effects (and likely projections), should be complete by the end of this month or early April. But at the moment, the classic animatronics have returned in an updated form ready to “follow you home.”

Breaking Ground on Shanghai Disney Resort

posted by Tom Staggs, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts

I’m writing to you from Shanghai where Bob Iger and I are just about to take the stage for a very special ceremony. In just a few minutes we will officially break ground on the Shanghai Disney Resort.

This is truly a defining moment in our company’s history. We will now begin construction on this exciting new site and cause our creative concepts to leap from the drawing boards and become a wonderful new resort where friends and families can visit and play and create memories that they’ll never forget.

With Shanghai Disney Resort, we have the chance to introduce the Disney Parks experience to an entirely new group of guests. Scheduled to open in about five years, our new resort in Shanghai will include things that you know and love about a Disney theme park such as Disney characters, attractions and storytelling… but it will also feature all-new experiences and stories that were inspired by and created for the people of China. The best way to describe this new resort is authentically Disney, yet distinctly Chinese.

Shanghai Disneyland will be the name of the theme park itself, but the property will also have two themed hotels, a venue for retail, dining and entertainment, a wonderful sparkling lagoon and some outdoor recreation areas.

We look forward to sharing more details with you right here on the Disney Parks Blog. Until then, I would like to thank everyone from both Disney and the Shanghai Shendi Group who have worked so tirelessly to make the dream of building a Disney resort in Shanghai a reality.

Marvel's Next Step: Disneyland
The studio boss on Marvel's theme park aspirations.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has big hopes for Marvel now that they're part of the Walt Disney family, including having Marvel's stable of iconic characters become fixtures at Disney theme parks around the world. We've got an exclusive advance look at a new interview Feige did for the upcoming summer issue of Disney twenty-three magazine, the quarterly publication of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club.

"It's the biggest dream of all. We get to tap into this spectacular team that is better than anyone else on the planet at bringing fantasy to life, not only on the big screen but in the real world," said Feige.

He continued, "The notion of walking into a theme park and going into Asgard or the X-Mansion—Disney does this better than anyone. That is why I've gone to Disney parks multiple times every year for my whole life. It's that next step in fully immersive storytelling, whether it's a dark ride, a stunt show, or a thrill ride. The options are endless when it comes to how Imagineers can turn our characters, our adventures, and our films into amazing experiences."

2013/2014 - Iron Man Attraction - Rumor - IGN has posted an interesting tidbid after an interview with the head of Marvel Studios mentioned that they’re looking forward to having their characters become fixtures at Disney theme parks around the world.
There is some interesting timing with this as well, as I’ve heard some early rumbling about an Iron Man themed attraction that may be in the design phase at Disney Imagineering, possibly for Disneyland. While I have no clue about the ride system(s) under consideration at this point, I have heard that the structure may be themed around the Stark Expo. Hmmm… Stark Expo… Disneyland… would have to fit into Tomorrowland somewhere. Boy, wouldn’t that make a great replacement for Innoventions? Of course the bad news is that if Iron Man moves ahead... this means any Tron based attraction would be put on the back burner.

There are business moves that are creative and cunning, but then there are those that are just offensive (this being one of them, imo).

And to the deadpool comment haha it will probably be Jafar head in a deadpool costume. Or something like this:

I don't really care but just leave marvel alone, Yeah build a ride there's no need for that stuff to go along with it. If you haven't guessed I find these pictures great lol

Take an Imagineer-Guided Tour of One Man’s Dream at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney Imagineering sent us a great video today that takes a look inside One Man’s Dream at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In case you aren’t familiar, One Man’s Dream is a walk-through exhibit that features more than 400 artifacts that chronologically tell the story of Walt Disney’s life and career.

Among those amazing items on display are early animation desks, some of the first Audio-Animatronics figures, theme park models and much more.

Here, Wyatt Winter and Brian Marschall give you an inside look.

2013/2014 - Marvel Comics Attraction / Avengers / Stark Expo - Rumor - There is an interesting article about the whole Stark Expo proposal, which explains why I had heard it was an active idea… then off the table, only to have everyone start talking about it all over again. The basic gist is that Disney Imagineering came up with a Stark Expo idea, just as a quick fix for the Innoventions space, but the idea really isn’t good enough other than as a quick way to get the Marvel characters into Disneyland.

However, there are many out there who aren’t sure what kind of reaction the park is going to get from adding Marvel characters, so apparently it was decided to leak the old Stark Expo plans out again onto the net, to see what kind of reaction it would get from the public, to better judge what method to use to really add the characters into the park.

You can read more here, which also has an awesome piece of concept artwork showing off a proposed Stark Expo building, that looks like it has some kind of Kuka arm ride on high up track over the main building, and even looks like they managed to find a way to bring back a new version of the Astro Jets.
