Any Charlotte skyline from the southwest or northeast would be the densest perspective, since Charlotte's skyline is so linear along Tryon. Here's a pic courtesy of South End Square:

Charlotte is the best night skyline, IMO. Very beautiful.

That's a nice picture pwright, but you and I know that is not the most dense angle of downtown Houston. IMO, I think the most dense angle is captured on the northeast side of downtown.

For Houston, I always thought it was coming up 45 from Hobby, or coming up from that freeway that runs down to Freeport--the South Freeway?
The NorthTex Freeway also has some good angles to it. BTW--what's with all the canary date palms in that pic? Those things don't handle cold weather that well, and barely survive in New Orleans which has warmer winters than Houston. |

While other palms were all over the city, canary date palms were rare. They grow in New Orleans--marginally--yet half the pics I see of Houston nowadays have date palms. Half of them died in New Orleans in 1989 when it got down to 12 degrees, and Houston can get colder than New Orleans. |

nostyle- I agree about the Charlotte night skyline.
Lysd- Those Birmingham shots look great. I don't think I've seen those. Sleepy- I believe those shots were shot this past winter and those date palms do look a little shabby in that photo, but there are quite a few mature date Palms in Houston and you would be surprised at how many queen palms are in the city now. I was here in 89' which was the last time Houston really had real snow, and some died but on most, the leaves just died off and grew back. I have seen also seen a number old historic photos of Houston and have seen mature date palms in those as well. Rare is not a word I would use when it comes to date palms in Houston, particularly in neighborhoods. Texas Star- nice shots of Dallas. Just looking at that shot with AA Arena, you can tell that Victory Project/w the W Hotel there is going to look awesome. |
