One of the interesting things about the funerary temple of 3rd Dynasty Pharoah Zoser (or Djoser) is that architect Imhotep wasn't quite confident enough to have separate columns, so they are all connected in pairs.
It wasn't until later (possibly later Old or early Middle Kingdom) when columns no longer were (as the Brits would say).... semi-detached. It was these very first columns in Djoser's mortuary temple that later evolved into Greco-Roman, Carolingian, Romanesque.... etc. columns of all the ages... |

Egypt is so amazing. I was there years ago, Gizeh and Vallley of the Kings in Luxor, will never forget it

Hi,you have shared a great collection of Egypt's art and architecture.The Egypt architecture's work is matchless in all over the world they have done a great piece of work on stones,they have designed lot of buildings which show the culture of the Egypt's culture .so thanks for nice sharing.
