That would be ideal, but it won't happen. It's quite sad to think of the stunning towers that were razed.

Interesting project, Madison Avenue is a great street. Is also twinned with Via del Babuino in Roma: http://rerumromanarum.blogspot.it/20...a-via-del.html , then any Roman has to appreciate Madison Avenue.

So they are planning to do another 425 Park to steer clear of the zoning restrictions?? By doing this the tower will only grow to 373' as per Post. Oh well.

The rendering looks nice and is a total upgrade imo.

Looks like scaffolding is going up on the north side of the building.

New Look: 390 Madison Avenue

read entire article in link:
http://newyorkyimby.com/2015/01/new-...on-avenue.html

Quote:
Kohn Pedersen Fox is the architect for 390 Madison Avenue, which will be much bulkier than its Foster-designed neighbor. Only 18 percent of the former 380 Madison Avenue will be dismantled in its refurbishment, though the building will see a significant height boost, rising from 24 stories and 291 feet to 32 stories and 373 feet.

Scaffolding has gone up on the existing building in the past week. Workers on site everyday.

Scaffolding has been erected on the Madison Ave side. Here's a shot from the north facade on the side street. You can see how the 1960s building received a new facade 20 years ago.

The block across the street is dilapidated, though 13 E 47th is coming down to make way for a mini-condo.

That's a cool video!

There's also a lot more detail to this building tht meets the eye, I'm sure it will end up great.

The new building project seems older than the old building...

That video is quite epic! While this is somewhat of a letdown in terms of height, it will be a great design with amazing detail!
