The thing to remember is that this is only 10% of the project. Much more is yet to come...

Though not as elegant as Kankaria or as huge in scale as Sabarmati (though double its length), this is a nice little cozy project...

looks really good though the park and stuff look a bit rusty .. but still a great project. Nice to see Ahmedabad developing its public spaces.

Good start Rushabh

Idea is good but water in the canal is not provided regularly and waste from the surrounding is still thrown into canal. My relatives stays at Naroda so I often visit them and next time I will surely collect some pics from there. After some time of inauguration there used to be beautiful lightings, fountains and good maintenance but day by day its maintenance deteriorates.

Wow...though we are very far from this stage. Seoul is the only major city in S.Korea, so they can afford to splurge so much.

I agree the canal development is not top-notch or cutting edge, but again I have seen bigger and filthier canals and rivulets in other big Indian cities.

This is a pretty decent effort from the AMC. The basic perception of the canal being a gutter-line has almost changed.

Good to see with Sabarmati Riverfront, Kankaria Lake front and Khari canal, Ahmedabad developing its water bodies. Other cities in India should follow suit.

Amazing updates Rushabh! Even the first completed part is great, there are plenty of other canals and waterways in the country that need a tidy up like this.

Rushabh bro u deserve an award . I had no idea the rest of the canal had developed that way. I did pass through the south side and i saw that pedestrian bridge and I was thinking why oh why would people throw rubbish in there. I think all that area needs is some tall good fence like the ones near the garden. Good work man.

p.s post 1 pic in the a'bad citiscapes thread from this!

It looks like they havent been maintaining the bridge like CE said. Are the fountains still there?

I think the fountain is still there, but was not spouting water.

Def, they need to maintain the bridges...

Another thing to consider is that most of the project (unlike Kankaria lake and riverfront) lies in heavily industrialised areas. So the type of people residing there are lower-middle class and poor migrants. So it will be a real challenge for the AMC to maintain the canal.

I am sure it will be a challenge for the AMC but it shouldnt matter who lives there. After all everyone payes their tax and if AMC develops something and spends crores and then doesnt look after it, then what is the point.
