Aye it is flying up, shame about the dive of a garage behind, from what I hear they are going to be refurbed as part of the development which should make it look better. Its just a shame (and typical) that it remained there in the first place as id imagine visitors arnt going to be overly impressed but hey ho at least a much needed hotel is being built!

Does anyone think that the Travelodge Hotel should have its own Project Thread?

Re

The usual way we, historically for the last few years, do things on the Sunderland and Durham Forum, is to follow issues on the "developments" type of discussion thread and then (if they develop, or even look like they will) into an actual physical construction project, we create a 'Project thread' for it, and follow the 'action' in detail on there.

It is also listed on our Development Summary, as a Project . .

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1092169

. . and becomes part of our clearly identifiable forum structure - as we KNOW where to find all info about it.

We currently have 25 project threads listed on the Development Summary, and (it seems to me) that this hotel is more active than most of those!!!

Anyway, the above is by way of explanation for newer forum members, but I'll leave the decision up to the concensus opinion.

OK . . .

(1) This new 'Project Thread' for the Travelodge Hotel (as I was doing the new 'Ryhope Hospital' thread this morning anyway) is now set up.

This DEFINITELY deserves its own Project Thread . . . lots going on, lots of photos, already up to 54 Posts!!

(2) I have also added it to our Development Summary, as Project 27.

(3) I have added the usual 'project thread' TAG, to the bottom of the thread, so when you click that TAG (on this or any of our Project Threads) the full list of them, with links to them all, appears.

That TAG is Project - Sunderland Area

Cheers
NH.

As much as I welcome more hotel rooms in Sunderland city centre, especially in the east end of the city centre, does the building have to be of such poor quality? It looks awful.

It's not the best, --but suppose it's better than what was.

I have to agree. No imagination has been used when designing it, a bit more colour and glass and it would have made it, it looks like a poor quality version of the bowling alley sat next door, shame. Atleast it will bring people to sunniside.
