Coddi's Paper NYC

Hi everyone!
For those who didn't see my little presentation, let's introduce myself, I'm Arnaud, 24 years old, from Lyon, France. (My english could be bad...).
I went in NYC for one week last November (for the marathon) and I loved this amazing city!
I decided to build some buildings using paper and I discovered this forum (The final goal is to create the paper model of the hotel I lived during my week in NYC).

I began by the Empire State Building, then I did the Chrysler, the Flatiron and the Citigroup Center. I'll post this later. But I think I have a printing scale problem. No I don't think so, I'm sure of that.
I'm here to find a way to solve my printing problem but I don't understand everything I read.

Here are the first models I built. I can do better (I hope). Sorry for quality, I did these photos with my phone):

Empire State Building (found on skyscrapermodels.us), the scale seems to be good:

Chrysler Building (Found on skyscrapers models.us), the scale seems to be good:

Flatiron (By TheNightfly), printed too big and the roof needs glue:

Citigroup Center (By MHX), printed too small:

And yesterday I did that for fun (scale 1:140), there's some details to improve (I'll do this later):

Very nice! Well what i used to do is copy and paste from SkyscraperCity into a Microsoft PowerPoint and print at 100%. That worked just fine for me.

Thank you!
For printing, yes but I've a mac so I don't have paint. I'll try on my father's pc for models and I hope I won't have problems like I had with your ruler meter (Impossible to be at right scale (when i calculated).
100m at 1:1700 = 5,88 cm right?

Thank you for your help (and same to Val5413 for his PMs).

Our scale is actually not 1:1700 but is indeed 1:1889, So 100m would be equavilant to 5.29cm if printed out. So to get 1:1700 models into 1:1889 print at 91% and to get 1:1889 to 1:1700 print at 111%. But it would in fact be easier just to print at 100% because the majority of the models on this forum were said to be 1:1700 but are all actually really 1:1889.

Thanks for the explanation but why?

So, my citigroup should be in right scale (gonna measure it), and my empire and chrysler not. Good, they are not perfect

Lol I don't really know why our models are at the scale they are but everyone has used the same scale meter bar that Rei made when he first started to make models. So everyone that uses that scale meter bar which everyone does uses the 1:1889 scale so it is ok to print at the same percentage if you are printing out models from this site.

I also forgot to welcome you to the forums, its always nice to have new members, I don't think there are mamy members in this section from France,

Ok. I'll use a new scale!

Thanks for welcoming me! (does that exist "welcoming"???)
I don't think there's a lot of french people here. I saw there's a section for architecture in France but here... I saw the "tour de Lille" in someone's thread, is it famous?

In France, papercraft is more famous for cars, motorbikes or video game characters.

Lol welcome does exist only if the new person is friendly, lol which you are, There is a section in this forum for all kinds of nationalities, It will usually be somewhere in the section labeled with the name of a continent. I hadn't really heard of the Tour De Lille until Skyscraperlover9595 made a model of it. It's not very tall although it does have a strange shape though. Papercraft can really be for anything in general as long as it can be made in the first place, lol. But usually people make models of structures since this is an urban forum on Structures and cities/places around the world.

I'd like to mention briefly that 1:1700 is not the scale for all of us. My personal scale for example is 1:1300 since 1990... :P

Oh, yes, and welcome Coddington!

Danke schön!

I verified (exists in english?), my citigroup center is indeed on a 1:1889 scale. Let's rebuild Empire State Building and Chrysler Building!

I think that the Empire and Chrysler are at 1:1700 scale though how tall did they come out?

Yep they're at 1:1700 I think. (I'm rebuilding the Empire State Building right now printing it at 91% like told me Val5413). Those I presented measures 22,8cm and 16cm (whiteout spire).

Nice!
But how can you build a whole model in one day? Oo
I need from about 2 weeks up to 5 months...

Lol these are models that people have already made on the computer and just need to print out Piep, lololol Your ESB indeed looks quite nicer than your older one, and it's even in a smaller scale too! Great Job Coddi,
