MAny of these buildings are very nice, but not awesome, because their ground level is trashed with retail or something like that isntead of making an unified continuum with the floors or, at most, with grand lobbies.

I used to hate it but I adore John Hancock Building in Chicago. Not sure if it's my favourite though. I'll need some time to think about that.

Trashed with retail? You realise that retail brings people which brings money. It's both profitable, increases street level vibrancy, etc, as opposed to..... a pompous lobby - but to no surprise you're on the total other end of the spectrum.

TD Centre in Toronto is so choice!

Other big favorites of mine are the Seagram Building in NYC (1958), a Miesian High Modernist classic:
