Licence taken from Chinese quarter nightclub.
rstood that the authorities are investigating links with Chinese Triad gangs.
Council officials were told that, at about 4am last Saturday, June 30, a group of at least eight men carried out a ‘vicious, unrelenting prolonged attack’ on the victim in a karaoke booth. Having received no treatment for his wounds he was then subjected to a second attack by two men ten minutes later involving an iron bar and broken glass bottle. A police statement said: “One of the males used an iron bar to relentlessly hit the injured male over his body, back, arms and legs. The other male used any available implement. This included bottles, at least one of which smashed whilst being used, such was the force.” The most serious injury was a deep cut to the back of his neck, extremely close to his main artery, police said. The council’s licencing sub-committee ruled that the bar owner, Safegold Ltd and designated premises supervisor Kuo Chen should have their licences suspended and cease trading pending a full review later this month. Chairman Majid Mahmood said: “The reasons for suspending the licence are due to concerns by police with regard to gang influence over the control of the premises.” In evidence to the committee police stated that no staff from China Court Karaoke, Ladywell Walk, tried to stop the attack or raise the alarm despite it being visible . Police said that door staff had left work an hour before the assault and that no first aid was offered to the victim. When police arrived they found staff cleaning the room and were told the CCTV system was out of order. The system’s hard drive was seized and police found the incident had been recorded in full. The Mail attempted to contact the owner, but the phone number given on the licence application was answered by a staff member at the China Court Restaurant downstairs from the karaoke bar, who denied any link to the other venue. Police are still investigating the crime. Read More http://www.birminghampost.net/news/2...#ixzz207k86sKw Last edited by Brum X; July 9th, 2012 at 01:30 PM. Reason: Error |

This is a positive thread isn't it!
So... has anyone been to the following yet: Fumo Temple Street Social Also good news on more bar openings, Brew Dogs bar on John Bright Street and the Purity Ale cafe/bar in the Orion. Good to see some new life injected into this part of town. |

Extract from the latest ED's Diner newsletter:
"News from Birmingham: you can now enjoy Ed’s famous milkshakes at three Shake Stands that are open in Birmingham. They’re in Selfridges Food Hall, in The Bullring Mall close to the Apple store, and in the airside lounge of Birmingham Airport. And on the subject of Birmingham, we’re increasing the size of Ed’s Easy Diner in Selfridges by 20 seats, to better accommodate the crowds trying to get in" |

A pub crawl I've still never got round to doing is the Harborne run. These photos are in approximate drinking order (this is the order I'd probably do them in) if you were to start in the Sportsman on Metchley Lane. All photos are mine apart from the Arco Lounge one which is borrowed from here.....http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubpictures/69860/

Yep, I love those LEDs and that colour, for some reason I can't tell the difference between the brand new Audi A3 and the old RS3 but I won't stray off topic.

Just the lights are different really on the new A3, the S3, RS3 are stunning motors though!
RE: Jimmy Spices expansion, here is the planning app for the signage, but you can see they are taking the unit next to them too, reason in the amount of covers. Quote:

I see the latest application to reopen the old Sound Bar at the bottom of Corporation St as failed after objections from the Children's hospital. This corner just can't make it despite being a prominent Gateway accessing town. Shame, it really deadens this end of the Street.
