Any idea why several Ryanair aircraft have been stored at BHX?

Ryanair Boeing 737-8AS
Birmingham - International (Elmdon) (BHX / EGBB) UK - England, February 21, 2014
EI-ESY (cn 34999/3829) Impressive lineup of Ryanair aircraft which seem to be parked in Birmingham for some time.

EK413.

Ryanair has an agreement with the airport authority to temporarily store between 5 & 10
Aircraft at various times of the week during the winter low season.
Aircraft come and go during the week although 1 or 2 can be on the deck for longer periods of time.
These aircraft will disappear as we go into the main summer season starting in April/May.
This agreement has been in force for about 3 years.I do not know if it will continue this winter.

China Southern Airlines.

A major coup for BHX has been announced today.A series of charter flights between Beijing and BHX will operate on 22/29 July and 5 August. An A330 will be used.
The full details are on the BHX website.Although only a short series of flights it is hoped that it will prove there is enough demand for a more regular service to China from BHX.
It might also prove the doubters to the south-east and north-west of us wrong

This is an excellent new development for BHX and a "massive" PR Coup for them as well(Only airport outside london to offer direct flights to China and also only made possible becouse of our Runway Extension)

BHX - PEK 22nd JULY departing at 12.00 / arriving at 05.20
PEK - BHX 29th JULY departing at 02.00 / arriving at 06.40
BHX - PEK 29th JULY departing at 12.00 / arriving at 05.20

Passengers Soar at BHX in April 2014

Birmingham Airport has recorded the busiest April in its history, as more than 750,000 passengers passed through the terminal last month, a 16.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Latest figures reveal the Airport handled 758,456 passengers in April, beating its previous record for the month set in 2009 by 5.7%.

The record-breaking month also saw a major rise in the number of passengers flying on long-haul services from Birmingham, up by 20.9% compared to April last year.

Scheduled routes that saw the biggest increase last month were Jersey (+173.2%), Fuerteventura (+132.1%), Stuttgart (+98%), Arrecife (+78.2%) and Faro (+77.6%). Charter services to Malta (+100%), Portugal (+100%) and Italy (+90.6%) also experienced significant growth.

Paul Kehoe, Birmingham Airport’s CEO, said: “To record the busiest April in our history is a tremendous achievement. It demonstrates the strong demand that exists for flights to and from Birmingham and the progress we have made over the past 12 months in particular.

“A strong performance in April is the perfect way to enter the summer season, a period which will also see Birmingham become the first UK airport outside of London to offer direct charter flights to China, as well as new flights starting to Porto, Cologne, Florence, Ibiza, Malta and Athens, among others.”
