American Airlines have only been at BHX for 1 month and we have already seen a 767-300 come into BHX, abeit for Technical reasons.

The beauty of having lots of new services is the increased chance of having something different turn up,such as today saw a Danish Air Transport A320 sub for the Icelandair B757.OY-RUP was the aircraft in question.

BHX Masterplan

Whilst our northern friends announce there masterplan, BHX not wanting to fall behind will have there own.

This picture is floating around at the moment and rumours are of a new Lo cost Pier to accomodate upto 8 aircraft of 738/A320 Size.

Apparently BHX will build it once a lo cost carrier commits to the airport. Norweigan Air Shuttle anybody ??????????

I really really hope so.

Excuse my ignorance but isn't Ryanair based at BHX & aren't they classified as a LCC? Which other LCC would establish a base?

Ryanair are based at BHX but there base has snagnated over the past few years and they are not giving BHX any significant growth so the plans are to have a new lo cost base and everybody who is interested in BHX and the rumours suggest Norweigan Air Shuttle could make BHX there 2nd UK base after LGW. They have apparently snubbed MAN and everywhere else is either Easyjet or Ryanair so a Norweigan base at BHX makes sense. But of course, Ryanair being Ryanair would probably make there BHX base double in size if they found out that Norweigan were coming to town. Norweigan already operate into BHX but it is not a base. The plan probbaly would be to construct the new Lo cost pier and have all of BHX lo cost carriers use it as we now have the spanish low cost airline Vueling operate to BHX.

Airport jobs firm relocates to Birmingham
Birmingham Airport growth triggers move.

Airport Placements, the airport job specialists, is moving its headquarters to Birmingham Airport, to be closer to its customers at its biggest UK operation. The move, which took place earlier this month, has coincided with a significant expansion in the business. The development has been made partly as a result of the airport’s continued traffic increases, which has averaged around 8% growth so far in 2015.

Having being headquartered in Measham, Derbyshire since its inception in 2009, the time was right to move to the airport. “We already have our training office at Birmingham Airport, so it was the next logical step for us to establish our headquarters there too,” says APL Director Kevin Wells.

“We’re already feeling the positive benefits of being on-site and closer to our customers,” added APL Director Jez Heenan. “The move is testament to our commitment to strengthen further our existing relationships with clients and candidates alike, by being more visible and approachable.”

Bob Graham, Operations Director of Birmingham Airport said: “APL has gone from strength to strength in supplying staff to our third party operators on site and it is fantastic news that they now have a base here at the Airport. Just this year we have welcomed five new airlines and we hope to break the 10 million passenger mark this year so with the help of APL we can ensure that our partners have the adequate resource and skills available to manage the operation.”

The official opening on 15th June of APL’s office, conveniently located in the Comet Building next to the airport terminal building, also allowed guests the chance to take on a world champion. Former World Darts Champion Steve Beaton, who is sponsored by APL, was on-hand in the new headquarters office, giving guests the chance to ‘Beat Beaton’ in a game of darts.
