BHX has handled the A380 since March 2016, however the airport has x3 Emirates flights every day and the EK A380 is now on the evening flight from BHX that departs at around 20.30 every evening. The other 2 flights are operated on 777 aircraft.

In addition, flights will also operate to Geneva, Grenoble, Krakow, Madeira, Prague, Salzburg and Turin during Winter 17/18. Two New York trips from Birmingham Airport in November complete the list of routes.

There are more than 840,000 seats on sale for Summer 17 and Winter 17/18 from Birmingham Airport with Jet2.com, which has been voted by Trip Advisor and Skytrax as the UK’s Top Airline, and is the only UK airline to be recognised by Which? as a Recommended Provider thanks to its friendly flight times, low fares and 0% credit card fees.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We have got off to a flying start in every sense at Birmingham Airport. Customers in the region have been hearing all about Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ family friendly ethos, great value package holidays and award-winning customer service, and today they finally get to experience all of that. Our formula is proven, having driven phenomenal loyalty and growth in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and we are very excited to be bringing this to our new customers at Birmingham and across the Midlands and South West of England.

“Although today marks Jet2.com and Jet2holidays becoming a truly national brand, our focus will remain the same as always which is providing our customers with low fares, a family friendly experience, and real package holidays. That proposition is driving strong demand at our newest base already and we are confident it will make us a resounding success.”

Through Jet2’s airline and holiday brands, customers from the region will have access to more choice than ever to popular leisure destinations all year round with a company that offers excellent service, affordable prices and flexible packages. March 2017 Stats

Record passenger growth figures continue for Birmingham Airport with March showing the airport handled 904,790 passengers – over 73,000 more than the same month in 2016 and an 8.9 percent increase.

Both long and short haul services saw significant growth with long haul up by 8.3 per cent compared to the same month last year and short haul up by 9 per cent.

Paul Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer at Birmingham Airport, said: “March was a very busy and significant month here at the airport. Not only did we see our twenty fifth consecutive month of growth but we also saw Jet2.com and Jet2 holidays launch and Qatar Airways celebrate its first anniversary.

“Eurowings also launched flights to Vienna and announced Salzburg, which will start in December. These additional airlines and routes along with the busy summer fast approaching means we only expect these record breaking figures to continue.”

Scheduled traffic accounted for 92 per cent of the total, with charter passengers making up the remaining eight per cent.

Scheduled traffic overall grew by 9.9 per cent, with significant year-on-year growth to Madrid (+143.1%), Wroclaw (+133%), Marrakech (+125.6%), Sal Island (+85.6%), Brussels (+41.8%) and Salzburg (+40.7%).

Charter traffic saw significant expansion on services to Hurghada (+238.7%), Naples (+151.9%), Malaga (+22.7%), Paphos (+21%) and Grenoble (+6.7%).

Just to clarify, I was asking if the bay where the EK B777 is parked is an "A380" modified bay?

Good and bad news this morning from BHX.
First, the airport has reached another milestone. It recorded its' 12 millionth passenger in a rolling 12 month period on Monday 17th April. The first time in the airports' history this has happened.
Unfortunately it would appear that the morning EK41/2 service to Dubai will no longer operate after August. It is showing as unbookable after 31st August.

Bad news about Emirates, however some more good news as Jet2 will base a 5th aircraft at the airport for S18.

Over a million passengers recorded at Birmingham Airport in April

Passenger figures recorded in April at Birmingham Airport have revealed the Midlands gateway saw over a million people travel through the terminal giving a healthy 21.7 percent rate of growth when compared to the same month last year.

n total 1,063,290 passengers flew through Birmingham – over 189,000 more than the same month in 2016.

Long haul services saw a 6.3% increase but the most significant growth was on short haul services where 24.3% more footfall was recorded across the month.

Paul Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer at Birmingham Airport, said: “To be seeing over a million passengers in a month this early in the year is a great achievement for the airport and shows demand is growing rapidly year on year.

“April was our twenty sixth consecutive month of record breaking growth which is a fantastic achievement by the airport team. The busy Easter weekend did fall during the month and so this would have undoubtedly helped boost these figures.

“With a selection of new routes and airlines launching over the next few weeks, including British Airways, we only expect these passenger figures to continue growing as we approach the summer peak season.”

Scheduled traffic accounted for 94 per cent of the total, with charter passengers making up the remaining six per cent.

Scheduled traffic overall grew by 23.9 per cent, with significant year-on-year growth to Sofia (+297.9%), Bucharest (+222.2%), Faro (+138.1%), Larnaca (+104.3%), Geneva (+96.4%) and Sal Island (+90.1 %).

Charter traffic saw significant expansion on services to Hurghada (+403.1%), Bridgetown (+119.7%), Chambery (+94.1%), Malaga (+90.5%) and Grenoble (+57.9%).

Also SpiceJet of India looking at BHX for future international flights.

Quote:
"SpiceJet plans to have 350-380 seats on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It would be an all-economy class configuration with few select rows of SpiceMax seats offering extra leg room. Full service Air India has 256 seats on its Dreamliners with 18 in business class. (With this seating capacity) if we can cap return fares at levels of about Rs 25,000, many would prefer a European vacation when a domestic return ticket can cost the same during peak season," said another SpiceJet official, adding that the LCC is looking at London, Birmingham, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Zurich as the possible destinations. It will offer in flight entertainment on its flights from later this year.
