The Faa Height Restrictions

The FAA height restrictions in downtown Miami are bullshit.

THe FAA restrictions in Sunny Isles are also bullshit.

THe FAA restrictions in downtown Orlando- equally bullshit.

Orlando & Orlando Executive Airport- First of all, none of the runways points directly downtown. In fact, I bet you the height restrictions are remnants from the early seventies when that airport used to handle commercial aircraft. It needs to be changed.

Sunny Isles. Are you kidding me? The two areas in South Fla where tall buildings are being proposed and BOTH are being limited by the FAA. Other than Air Force One, who else uses Opa Locka Airport? It's further from A1A than MIA is from Downtown Miami. Again, old regs that need to be changed.

MIA. More valid than the other two, BUT, the flight paths, if you look at a map, don't coincide with the variance in differing heights from city block to city block near the Wachovia. they need to be revised- if possible?

Well, San Diego suffers from the same fate. For God's sake, Tampa even has height restrictions set by the FAA (I read). TIA's runways don't even point downtown! How bullshit is that? The FAA is a useless agency- beyond air traffic control- they couldn't even do that right 3 years 2 months and 9 days ago. All government agencies, for the most part, are a joke. Including NASA. The Spaceship One guys proved that in the desert a month and a half ago. Now I'll get off of my soap box.

I did some research a month ago, and I'm going to write a law review article and submit it for possible publication which will center on how FAA height restrictions can be considered a governmental "taking" by not allowing developers to maximize their profits when developing a parcel of land. If there's merit, then maybe someone can sue the FAA on behalf of developers to get them to raise the height which to me, seem to be arbitrarily imposed. I'll give you all an update If I make any headway- but feel free to post any info here that might come to mind from you're realm of knowledge on this subject as well.

nasa is the biggest waste of money out there seriously what have they done over the last like 50 years that has benefitted a citizen of the united states, they spend a shitload of money on research and going into outer space and yet they haven't done a single thing that benefits anyone.whops my bad they tought us how to put satelits(can't spell) into space but thats it.

and how come the faa doesn't go bother new york and chicago with b.s. height limits

1) Huh? you need to study a bit more about NASA . . .

2) because the buildings were there before the airports and the big ariports are far enough away.

ok guys we complain so much because of height restrictions but ours are about 1000 ft,but in boston theres controversy because the faa wont allow them to build an 840ft bldg because of its proximity to logan,i would be mad if i lived in boston and that happened

nasa currently runs many experiments for medical purposes out of many of the missions, in addition to the fact that more than half of all of mans astronomical knowledge has been found out by nasa, not to mention the invention of thousands of things that were invented for space travel , but have benefited society (btw, them icrowave was invented by nasa for use during space missions, im sure that that hasnt helpd society at all rite, im sure u dont have one uptown), im not saying that there isnt waste, or that theyre perfect, but nasa has benefited us tremendously, physically and its a symbol of national pride

nasa does alot, and i think that if anything funding should increase (though not rite now, we got more important budget problems to worry about, but they deserve more money), cause their budget has been slashed over and over over the past 20 years, their always the first ones to have their budget slashed
