Is Tianjin the fastest growing city in the world right now?

I was curious so i checked how many 200-300m skyscraper in Tianjin are u/c. This is unbelieveable O_O
Right now i don`t see a faster growing city in the world for 150m + skyscrapers. Am i correct?

Though tianjin is probably the fastest growing city in the developing world, (their 200+m skyscrapers U/C could probably take up a whole page of threads) Toronto is probably the fastest growing in the developed world..

how many supertalls are U/C in Tainjin right now?

3 supertalls U/C currently. 44 buildings over 200m either topped out, under construction, or prep.

Tianjin's construction activity is very impressive. How many 100m+ buildings are U/C and proposed in Tianjin?

For 200m+ buildings, Tianjin is likely 1st for construction activity. That's 53 200m+ buildings if it all gets built which would put it in the top 5 globally.

Maybe he's on the Tianjin real estate board and just looked it up.... or maybe he's talking out of his ass. It's a toss up.

Tianjin is definitely going to be spectacular.

BTW, New York has 16 supertalls in various stages of development and it's hardly fast-growing by global standards.

Tianjin has had 6 200m+ top out this year, and 5 more should top out this year (for a total of 11). What is the record for highest number of skyscrapers 200m+ topped out in a year in a city? Definitely has to be in China

What many people who are unfamiliar with Tianjin probably don't realize is that all of these new skyscrapers won't be build in a single city, but pretty spread out over a huge area.

As one of 4 direct-controlled municipalities of China (the others being Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing) Tianjin covers an area of 12,000 km˛ - so an area of approximately 120x100km and those new developments are all over the place.
For example the new Xiangluowan CBD (where roughly half of all the new skyscrapers are built) is 40km southeast of the existing city center, whereas the Goldin Finance 117 Tower will be built 10km west of the existing city center.

So it is not exactly as if all of those developmnts take place in a single city, but rather in an entire region.

Agree, I started noticing all the projects in the development thread. It's certainly a city to watch. New York will see some of its most dramatic changes to its skyline in decades. New York isn't building a ton of buildings, but it's certainly building tall.

11 has to be a record for any city.

Tianjin, Shenzhen, Nanchang, Nanjing, Wuxi, Dalian, Changsha, Heifei, Wuhan, Shenyang, etc. Does any one have data on how many 200m+ buildings are Built--T/O, U/C--Site Prep, Proposed for each city? It would make an interesting list for each; I'll do one for Toronto and Tianjin below. The only cities outside of China that might come close are Mumbai, Toronto, Kuala Lumpur, and New York.

Toronto
Built-T/O: 11
U/C--Site Prep: 5
Proposed: 13
TOTAL: 29

Tianjin
Built--T/O: 12
U/C--Site Prep: 38
Proposed: 3
TOTAL: 53

Is this right for Tianjin? 16 U/C + 22 Site Prep = 38
