NYC the best

Melbourne (not remarkable enough, sydney is probably better)

Guangzhou (chinese skylines sometimes lack personality, maybe it's the type of architecture)

Chicago (mmmm, so so)

Hong kong (second best after NYC)

Dubai (plastic looking)

Singapore (third nicest)

London (hardly a skyline)

That's a little harsh. Maybe 15 years ago it didn't have much of a skyline but it does today. With another 5 years of tower construction I'd consider sneaking it into my top 30. In the long term, rising higher than 20th might be difficult due to the cities ahead of it and heritage built form over large tracts of central London.

Singapore is way overrated with a third place imho.

for me architectual desing and unique, monumental buildings are way more important then the size of the skyline or height compared to others. London to me looks totally unique and vibrant. Tokyo does not. just as an example as how my list is motivated.
