The Skyscrapers in Frankfurt look very sleek - collectively, at least!

Yep, they should be called shinyscrapers instead of skyscrapers!!! They are building more so the skyline is only going to get better

Well the weather was too nice today and as winter approaches I took the oppotunity to go for a little walk with the camera in Frankfurt

The new dockside housing area, reminds me a little of Canary Wharf in London

Yes, that is definitely one of the most attractive skylines - and not just because there are lots of 'talls'.

There is just something very 'clean' about it.

Neef is a small town in the Mosel river valley. The Mosel valley is a very stunning place with lots of amazing scenery and ruined castles everywhere. It's kind of like a mini-Rhine

Beilstein is also in the Mosel river valley. It's a really small place but still manages to pack in some amazing architecture which is enhanced by its stunning natural setting

There is a ruined castle on the hill overlooking the town

There is also a splendid baroque church

Burg Arras, Mosel Valley. This is another of the many castles in the Mosel Valley. Unlike most of the others this one has been converted into a hotel and a museum. It even had a dungeon with screaming mannaquins inside!!!

Cochem, Mosel Valley. Cochem is probably the most touristy of the towns along the Mosel. It has a lovely old town and a reconstructed castle sitting over above

The castle and the pretty riverfront facade

Zell, Mosel Vally. The last place I visited was another nice little town although this one did not have a castle (although it had some medieval towers that were once part of the town walls)

Zell is like many other Mosel towns, long and thin as the amount of buildable land on the river side is limited

Aschaffenburg, this large town is about 40 mins away from Frankfurt and also sits on the River Main although it's not in Hessen it's in Bavaria! This is probably one of the last day trips I take this year due to the weather and winter

Schloss Johannisburg is one of the finest Renaissance buildings in Germany. The building was ruined during WW2 but the exterior has been restored to its former glory. The interior was only partially restored and is now a musuem which is worth visiting for it's exhibits rather than the interior itself

The view from the gardens is rather nice as well. On the far right is a reconstructed Roman villa which I wanted to visit but it was closed

The old town was also severly damaged in WW2 but what's left or reconstructed is charming and well worth a look
