Many filipino-americans sadly don't speak their native tongue although they may know a few words here and there and despite their parents beings 100% filipino. I guess it has to do with the fact that english is also a national language of ours and speaking english fluently is seen as admirable. i migrated here so I do speak my native language but my nieces and nephews don't despite both parents being filipinos
