Toronto is an international city where more than half the population were born outside of Canada. Canadian culture is considerably watered down here as the influences from offshore often supplant long held domestic pursuits/interests. If you want mainstream Canadian culture, Toronto is the last place you should go.

New York, Boston, and San Francisco may be large, but only represent about 9% of the US population. Far more people live in smaller cities like Charlotte, Boise, or Tulsa. These cities also tend have a smaller % foreign born, and are to be far less influenced by foreign culture. New York is an international city.

Btw, 23% of Canadians weren't even born in Canada. The US figure is about 13%. Politically, Canadians have far more choices. Culturally, the spectrum is just as wide north of the border as south. Diversity exists everywhere. No one is suggesting that all people in the US are the same, but that's not what the thread question asked.
He said New York, Boston, San Francisco, etc., which implicitly includes places like Los Angeles, Miami, DC, maybe Chicago, and a whole number of other liberal, diverse, and cosmopolitan places that don't represent the real America because we all know that American means fat, white, Christian, out of shape, suburban, etc. How can you say that more people live in places like Charlotte, Boise, and Tulsa compared to the large 10-15 metro areas in the country? People live at the high, medium, and low end tiers of metro areas.

The question is stupid because it's attempting to fit a square peg into a round hole. No matter what answer you come up with, whether it's Charlotte, Boise, or Tulsa, it's very flawed and really doesn't represent the reality for a substantial percentage of the population.

Lets get back to the US folks, Canada may have a higher percent of citizens that are foreign born currently but the US is still much more of a melting pot. The "visible minority" percentage in Canada is 16.2% of the population whereas in the US it's 36.3% and rapidly growing. (Though so is Canada's.)

Anyways, back on topic.

I thought you were talking about Texas.

You do realize, of course, that Texas is a much fatter state than Kansas. Texas is ranked 15th on the fat index while Kansas is #23.

Houston was ranked the #1 fattest city in the US, and McAllen-Edinburg, TX was found to be the fattest area with over 38% obesity rate.

Mississippi is still the fattest state (for the last 6 consecutive years).

I obviously wasn't talking about Texas but whatever, and I do realize the irony in my preceding post because Texas has corn, fat people and tornadoes also. However, Texas is an American anomoly and has too much influence from México (which is badass) to be considered the most American.

That's your opinion. Though I agree, NYC is quite unique and above all else... Not only in America imo.

Really? Your #2 and #3 spots are Boston and DC of all cities? Above, LA, Chicago, San Fran?. Not that Boston isn't a great city (don't care too much for DC) May I ask why? Let me guess. They are on the east coast!

As for most American state, well that depends in how we define being "most American". Some would say diversity is an "American" concept.

California or Florida. At least from an external perspective.

I hate that, when you type in a face and this website automatically assumes that you want it's lame version so it auto-corrects. Ugh ruined my entire post.
