Yep, people visiting the council website to sign the Hillsborough petitions have also clearly been signing the Commonwealth Games petition too, giving it a big boost over the past few days. It does seem doable now, so if you haven't yet signed and forwarded, please do. Even if it doesn't lead to a formal feasibility study, it'd be interesting to read the council's take on the proposal.

Out of interest, does anyone know why the required figure was set at 437 signatures? It seems like an arbitrary number.

Initial thought was that would be 1% of the population from the 2001 census, although on checking that would mean 441 signatures required.

I signed it even though i live in Ainsdale, our Head Office is in Liverpool so that's how i did it.

I amazed that we got the requisite number, I'm more amazed that we got the last 100 signitures in only a day!

Any news on when the meeting shall be? We need to advertise the fact that we got the number and we need interested parties to go to the meeting

Now that we will be having our meeting, we need to increase public awareness and appetite.

Therefore can i suggest we all do the following.

Send a mass msg to the following email addresses simply to inform the people in these publications that the petition and idea exists and ask them to run a story in their newspapers (include the link to the petition)
